How do you wear your knee high boots ?

I’ve bought some new black knee high boots but haven’t worn them yet - just been sticking to my ankle boots.
I wear a lot of tights/skirts/jumper for work - would they suit this look or would I look old fashioned ?
Or are they better over jeans ? I only ever wear black skinny jeans anyway .
Just not sure what I bought them for ?!

I've just bought some black flat ones and I wore mine with a grey miniskirt, black tights and thin-stripe jumper the other day. Sort of 1960s-ish (Margot Robbie in Once upon a Time in Hollywood).

Otherwise though I just go tight skinnies and a looser jumper or shirt. Or tights and shirt dress.

I wear mine with midi skirts, so that the tops of the boots are hidden by the skirt, or with culottes in the same way.

Can we see a pic of the boots so we can advise?

Midi length skirts or dresses. Over jeans is a bit Sloan.

LilyJade · 05/11/2019 18:43

I wear mine over jeans & with mini skirts

AnnaNimmity · 05/11/2019 18:45

I'm doing the whole midi skirt/dress 1970s vibe.

I think the over jeans look is dated (sorry). Mine have a heel - not a stiletto and look fab!

Long jumpers and tights/leggings or skirts. Dont wear mine over trousers as such (I have fat calves so hard enough getting boot to fit over them let alone extra material in trousers etc)

I’m wearing mine under culottes this winter.

Fidgety31 · 05/11/2019 20:28

I don’t know how to load a photo ?
But thanks for the ideas - didn’t think about over jeans being dated ?!
I’m 5ft4 so not sure if I’m too short for that look anyway .

I wear mine with shorter dresses over leggings or with longer dresses and tights. A couple of times I've worn them under culottes but I agree that the boots over trousers or jeans look is a bit dated. Lots of people still do it though and it's very warm!

Dizzywizz · 05/11/2019 20:46

Don’t say you’re too short @Fidgety31, I’m only 5ft and wear them!!!!

CravingCheese · 05/11/2019 20:49

Opaque tights, mid thigh skirt or dress.

Or just with jeans, pullover and a jacket. But I do feel like that look is a bit dated. (but I still like it. Especially with chunky sweaters)...
And it reminds me of the excitement of getting my first riding boots and pants (non idea how you call those in English), so there's a bit of nostalgia to it as well.

I personally feel like I look fabulous wearing an upper calf to below the knee with heeled boots.
but I hate wearing heels.

I have ordered some M&S knee length brown boots (I thought Id have a change from black) in the vegan pleather (I don't wear leather)

If they fit , I'm Sloaning it with jeggings and a jumper (and a scarf ) . Done that folded in half , round my neck and tuck the ends through the loop.
