If I describe a coat, can anyone find it?

I’m looking for a waterproof, warm (down filled?) parka with a fitted shape (ie a waist) and a zip that undoes from both ends. It has to be really warm as it’s for watching dd play football and I really feel the cold, and be fitted enough to look decent when I wear it for my commute to work.

Not sure if it's a 2 way zip, though. www.protected-species.com/our-products/waterproof-winter-parka/

If you get really cold I recommend one of these under your coat, really thin, so doesn't feel bulky, but so so warm. www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-ultra-light-down-compact-coat-419780.html?dwvar_419780_size=SMA001&dwvar_419780_color=COL56&cgid=IDdown1153&hassubcat=false

These are so chic and fit your description www.hetrego.com/en-ce/woman?p=1&show=all

I have a coat exactly like you described for the same reason you want it ... standing watching the DCs play football! It's from Lands End and called the "commuter down coat". Meant to be around £200 I think but I got mine on sale for around £75. Warmest coat I've ever had.

HighNetGirth · 05/11/2019 12:00

Debenhams has some good coat bargains in the online sale, including the kind you describe.

NationMcKinley · 05/11/2019 12:01

Also would recommend looking at Lands End.

HighRopes · 05/11/2019 12:03

Ooh, thanks! I will follow up all your recommendations.

The double zip thing is crucial for spreading out the skirt of the coat so as to sit on a rained-on bench without getting a wet bum.

Heterego use real fur 🤔

HighNetGirth · 05/11/2019 12:43

M&S has got some not bad looking padded coats this year. I don’t know how warm they would be though.

afternoonspray · 05/11/2019 12:47

Do you mean this sort of thing?

afternoonspray · 05/11/2019 12:49

Sorry - that link didn't work.

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2019 12:52

The hetergo one really doesn't meet the description, it's trianglular not nipped in at the waist..

HighRopes · 05/11/2019 13:53

Bluntness and only water resistant. I did wonder (given it didn’t meet the spec and the wording of the post) whether it was a bit of a clumsy marketing attempt.

I like the idea of Lands End coats but all the reviews say they come up big, and especially long-armed. I am pretty much the opposite (fairly petite, short armed, but busty) so I’m not sure they’ll be a good fit.

Debenhams does have some good bargains at the moment, thanks for the recommendation HighNetGirth.

Regatta Voltera - it's heated!

ODFOx · 05/11/2019 15:59

Crag hoppers Josephine very warm and long enough and has waist drawstring for shape. Not sure if zip is 2 way though.

HighNetGirth · 05/11/2019 19:29

40% off full price Lands’ End with code FFCOSY, by the way.

Wenchelda · 05/11/2019 20:28

@HighRopes I'm only 5ft 2 and the Lands End coat is a good length (inc arms) on me

AnotherEmma · 05/11/2019 20:31

Seasalt do lovely warm waterproof coats but I don't know about double zips.

HighRopes · 06/11/2019 21:33

So I’ve ended up with Tog 24 - they have a few that fit the bill, and are also having a massive sale.
