Uniqlo coat sizing help!

I'm on the hunt for a warm, long winter coat and like the look of the Uniqlo hybrid down one.

I don't live near a store to try one on. I'm a fairly stocky 12 - very occasionally a 14 if things are small across the chest and not totally sure what size to go for.

What shops are you a size 12 in?

Topshop, oasis, warehouse. Usually a M or an L in Zara depending on the cut. I'm quite top heavy.

I’m 14 on top and XL in Uniqlo. It’s styled in Japanese sizing .

I'm a 14 top and buy L in Uniqlo tops but XL in a jacket as the L would have annoyed me across the shoulders when I drove .

But last year I tried on a cotton parka and the Small looked hideously Bag Lady on me even with the lining still in !

( I know it was meant to be roomy but I looked like I was wearing a tent)

Yeah I was toying with either L or XL but wasn't sure if XL would be a bit big across the shoulders and hips.

I have found the fit calculator on Uniqlo fairly accurate.
