Searching for short but thick socks?

Hi all,

I’m looking for some short but thick socks to wear under low-cut boots. Happy to see a tiny bit of them over boot but normal socks wouldn’t work. Happy for them to be colourful or muted and quite like the fairisle look... any ideas? I’ve found some great ones but they’re all too long! x

How short do you need them to be? Like trainer socks? Or are short ankle socks ok? I get wool mix socks from eBay and fold over the top to make them a bit chunkier. Cheap and wear well - might be worth a look?

Ooh, I like the look of those ToftB! Can I ask what the sizing is like? I’m a size 4 and it says they fit sizes 5-8... 😬🤞🏼 x

If you’re a size 4, have you looked at kids socks? They tend to be shorter than socks for adults.

@Starfish83 they're quite snug on me but I'm a size 7. I bet they'd fit you fine.

I have some short thick socks from Uniqlo.

I bought these from amazon - quite a few sellers have them. They're wool so lovely and warm and I love them with my wellies, but they're actually quite short, though not trainer sock low. Some colourways aren't so nice but I still reach for them before my other socks.

Boys thermal school socks from m and a are great. Come in packs of three, black or grey. They used to do navy but haven’t for a while now.

I just wanted to say I got this socks after your post. They look good and are well made and are a decent thickness but I am so disappointed as the are 33% polyester! (33wool,33cotton',3polyester) Which the description didn't say every time I wear a pair it's like my feet are trying to fill a swimming pool they sweat so much

It's such a shame as other than that they would have been a great sock

@Ginkypig I'm sorry they're not working for you. I promise I'm not selling them or anything! I would prefer a higher wool content really too.... but they're nice colours and they are pretty short so I thought they were worth mentioning.

No toftheb they were totally worth mentioning! Don't think of my post as a dig at you! I may just have particular feet

They look great and fit well and are lovely and thick, I was really pleased when I open the package (except for the weird vacuumed packed bit which was handy but odd, did you get that too?) it's just such a shame that the polyester count is so high, if they were more of a cotton/wool mix they would have been great! That is not your fault though! I didn't even notice by the look of them it wasn't until I had them on and wondered why my feet felt so sweaty.
