I’m looking for a squashy leather or leather look backpack that will wear well and be used for many years . I like : some outside pockets, preferably able to be carried with a top handle , that maybe is even long enough to carry as a shoulder bag (could be convertible)
So far the usual places aren’t coming up trumps, anyone got any suggestions?

I recently got a work bag from Knomo - can be worn as a backpack or carried by a carry handle, lots of pockets, looks smarter than a backpack. Worth a look?

My mum bought one a few weeks ago from a shop in our town but I did some online research for her beforehand and found quite a lot of options for all budgets on Asos and Zalando

Thanks both!

Fat face Mia bag?

sunshinesandwaves · 03/11/2019 17:25

I got the Fiorelli Anna backpack and it's the best bag I've ever had.

eurochick · 03/11/2019 17:25

I have a lovely one from Allsaints.

crochetmonkey74 · 04/11/2019 08:16

ooh I really like the Fiorelli one in the spice colour- sunshine is it fairly floppy? I don't like them too structured

Mia Tui have a couple that might fit the bill. I have a couple of their bags, and they're great.

There's a brand called Slang Barcelona which have quite a few bags that convert from shoulder bags to backpacks that might be worth checking out.

Hi crochet
I like the spice one too! Thinking to put that on my Xmas list.
No it's very soft not too structured at all.
I found mine online on a special offer and got John Lewis to price match! Xx

crochetmonkey74 · 04/11/2019 10:20

ooh sunshine how did you do that???

I bought this convertible backpack a few months ago, and am very happy with it. Can't say how long it will last though! so far so good.

Mine is from Russell and Bromley ( bought BNWOT from eBay) and its really good. It's this one ( Kendall but in black)

A friend has a www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/longchamp-le-foulonne-leather-backpack_289-2001484-1550021/longchamp one in black leather which was what inspired me but mega bucks

I found it on Debenhams at the time cheaper, so messages JL (they have a team I believe who deal with price matching) then bought the bag from JL and then submitted proof of it being cheaper elsewhere and they refunded me the difference. I believe it was about £25 cheaper..

crochetmonkey74 · 04/11/2019 13:33

soover I really like that one too

@crochet look on eBay. I have 2 R&B bags from there both brand new without tags at hundreds less than from R&B.

BBBear · 04/11/2019 14:04

I've got this one from Osprey. It's surprisingly big inside and can easily hold an iPad and water bottle (as well as purse, etc.)

The handles can be zipped together too make it one handle and more like a handbag.

I second the Mia Tui recommendation. Mine is a Maya and it has a flat base so it stands on the floor instead of tumbling, but it doesn't look boxy. I'd prefer a couple more small pockets externally (lipbalm!) but this works so well for me that I can forgive that. I can fit an A4 notebook in, a water bottle and plenty more.
