Plus size work wear recommendations?

Hi

I am really struggling with clothes a the moment - I used to be slim but following a stressful few years and health issues I have put on a lot of weight and it is getting me down. Because I hope to lose weight I have bought very few clothes but now I am really struggling with having clothes to wear for work. I am a size 16/18, 5ft 3in, big boobs, no waist and everything I have tried on looks awful, I just look huge and shapeless. I have always quite liked dressed and my workplace isn't overly smart so some basic flattering, comfortable dresses would be great.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy flattering, not too expensive dresses suitable for work?

xx

I am about a 16, also an apple, but I'm a SAHM, so possibly my workwear suggestions might not be the best... HOWEVER, if I was going back to work, I would shop for a lovely blazer which goes in at the waist. I have an old one in my wardrobe, from (don't laugh) M&S. It looks fab with jeans in autumn and spring but would look equally fab with an a line skirt on me I think.

I personally don't suit pencil skirts as they cut me in half a bit, so I tend to go a line.

I also love skater dresses and I've seen lots which would do for work, under a jacket.

What sort of office is it? Does it need to be quite conservative or could you get away with a cool jumpsuit or pinafore dress?

Also, there is a plus size "What Are You Wearing Today?" thread on here and some lovely work outfits on there.

Oh sorry, you asked WHERE not what Blush!

I am a huge eBay fan. I love Duns of Sweden and Run & Fly for dresses and have got some cheap secondhand dresses of theirs on eBay. Also Thought clothing and some of the supermarkets. I like Tu.

Hey! I’m a size 16 and the same, was slim, health issues put on weight.

I have really found my work ‘look’ lately with dorothy perkins and wallis midi dresses with boots or wedges(summer) Belted in the middle usual! They have so many nice styles and patterns!

Also 5ft 2! Wink

Thank you for the advice - I like skater dresses too but can't seem to find any at the moment! I've always been a bit unsure about midi dresses, I think I assume they won't look great because I'm short but maybe I will take a look,

xx

I've had quite good luck with Reiss skater dresses from eBay op. I do find I need to size up for comfort though. So I have a 16 one in my wardrobe which fit beautifully when I was more of a 14. Now it still looks fine, bit isn't super comfy.
