Facials before or after travel

Beauty experts - I am travelling long haul at the end of November for a big party and would like for my skin to not look utterly raddled as it does at the moment, courtesy of a non sleeping 2 year old and a hungry nursing 9 month old who is sucking the life out of me.

Was thinking about having a fancy facial just before I fly - but is this an utter waste of time as the long plane flight will just reverse the effects of it? Any ideas? Will not have time to do anything other than the basics once I land....

I wouldn’t do it too close to the event as sometimes a facial can cause you to break out. Provided you slap on lots of moisturiser before the flight, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol I don’t think the flight will undo all the good of the facial. If you are going to a hot destination I would do it after as lots of sunscreen, sweat, seawater etc does my skin no favours. Have fun!

I always have a Dermalogica facial just before a long flight. I think it helps me not get parched. Plus, she usually gives me some freebies to slather on during the journey.

I use sheet masks and one of those jade roller massage things whilst I'm on the long haul flight.

Will you have the kids with you on the flight?

If not, or if you can have a bit of time to yourself, I'd spend the money on some fancy products in the duty free instead. My suggestion would be a Rodial vitamin C sheet mask or some Dr Sebagh hyaluronic serum.

You could also try using an AHA or PHA toner for a couple of weeks before you go. Pixi Glow or Lixirskin PHA Night Switch are both great and really do make your skin "glow".

And really a good foundation will do wonders when you get there!

Thank you!

No kids on the flight with me —I cannot wait—

So time for mooching at duty free and trying hard not to drink champagne as that will dehydrate me

Good point re breakouts, maybe I’ll have one a week before and then take a sheet mask with me
