What do people do for coats?

I need a casual warm coat and I don't know what to get. I'm a size 16 with hips being my widest point but have a bit of a waist.
I've got a knee length black belted coat and a mac for work but I don't have anything to wear e.g. with jeans at a weekend except my hiking fleece or raincoat or the work ones.
I hate clothes and shopping and since DS arrived most of my clothes have come from Sainsbury's.
But I need a coat and don't want to spend much. I'm not overly keen on faux fur lined hoods and I worry the slightly puffa looking ones will make me look huge.
Help!

I just bought a puffa from M&S which surprisingly does not add bulk. I stayed away from them for years thinking I'd look like the Michelin man! Only £35 and comes in black, red and a blue colour.

Tesco do some nice coats, as do matalan. I've just purchased a barbour coat which is a lightweight padded style which nips in at the waist a bit, it was massively reduced on 'pet and country' website. I wouldn't usually spend so much but it will be something I'll get plenty of wear from and like I say it was hugely reduced. It has a hood and its warm but no fur. Also check out tog 24 on debenhams website.

I like Seasalt coats. They are usually reduced by about 50% in the sale

Asda online, their stuff is brilliant

Matalan have some with removable faux fur bits.

Hollister have a sale online today- including coats with about £25 off. Some nice parkas with drawstrings to pull in the waist.

I thought the same about puffa style coats but my ma bought me a khaki green thin-ish one from m&s a while back and it’s honestly so flattering, and warm too! I love it.
I have a lot of coats but my other favourite is my quilted Barbour, expensive but worth a look.

I just got a coat in miss selfridge, in my town Evans, DP and burtons are also in the same store. Sure you'll be able to find something there!
