Leather jacket - which do you prefer?

I'm treating myself to a proper leather jacket for my birthday this year and have bought this from Reiss: here

But I'm not sure I love it and am wondering if this one from Joe Brown's would be better: here

Any view?

Part of my problem is that I'm 4 months pregnant so the Reiss one doesn't fit brilliantly at the moment, although I think it will be fine when I'm not. I want to choose it now because it is will be a present for my 40th birthday, otherwise I would wait until I've had the baby.

I'd keep looking. I don't like the zips on the Reiss one & the JB one looks cheap. I've looked at All Saints and they have some beautiful jackets.

Don’t forget massimo dutti they have a couple of brown jackets md

Moominfan · 30/10/2019 21:42

I love the joe browns one 😍

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/10/2019 21:46

I've just made the mistake of clicking on the JB one in red. Shudder.

Don't like either of them really but the first one particularly screams "middle-aged and scared to take risks". Leather jackets are supposed to be edgy, not bland.

JoanBonJovi · 30/10/2019 21:49

Leather jackets mainstream now

nancyjuice7 · 30/10/2019 21:56

100% Reiss

I prefer the joe browns one. I think its a better shade of brown, and the reiss one is one of those undersized cuts that is supposed to look too small. I think that will date.

I have a joe browns leather jacket that ive probably had nearly 10 years and its butter soft and i love it

Cheesybiscuits01 · 30/10/2019 22:34

I would also vote neither. It's a lot of money and you don't seem to love either.

I have 2 all saints leather jackets which I love. I never zip mine up and in fact when I spoke to the sales assistant in all saints the said buy it smaller as it loosens off and not to zip it up. This would mean potentially you could wear it during pregnancy. However you have no idea what your body might do in response to pregnancy and you could end up a different size.

I would say wait until the baby is here and look then.

I seriously wouldn't spend that much full price so close to Black Friday and the next lot of winter sales. Guarantee you'll get either of those at 20-30% cheaper in four weeks time, or you can up your budget and include some pricier ones too.

I get its a significant and meaningful purchase, but all the more reason to spend the next few weeks, researching, try on, compiling a wist list etc. Personally though that all said, I'd stash the money and wait till after the baby is born. Do you really need something for the birthday itself? Hardly a surprise gift is it if you're choosing it or buying it yourself!

And definitely don't b uy one with a view to zipping it up. They look awful fastened.
