Is there such a thing as a perfect bag?

I love bags, but I have loads and for years I’ve wanted a perfect one handbag that I use for everything. A friend has one that she’s had for 20 years, the leather is like butter now , but it’s like it because she’s battered it for so long, whereas I keep swapping . Anyone got any recommendations or even better pics of their perfect handbags?

Where is your friends bag from and why does she love it so much? I'm also after a bag that I can love for 20 years!

I've got quite a few expensive designer handbags, which are all lovely but my most used and favourite one cost me £5 in the Peacocks sale about 2 years ago! I just absolutely love it!

I have my 'perfect bag' - DH bought it for me about 3 years ago in Debenhams sale. It's a brown leather Fiorelli - not hugely expensive but it was by our standards (even in the sale).
It's medium sized, big enough to fit an umbrella and has lots of pockets inside. I use it every day and if I change to a different bag I'm always happy to get back to this one.
I also get lots of compliments on it too.

My friends one is really floppy brown leather , has a top handle and an outside back zip pockets and a flap over . She thinks she got it from a jumble sale, it has no known label in. It’s the perfect tan colour as well and smells lovely, it’s sort of like one of those really stiff saddlebags but all floppy with a handle to hand carry it

You need a proenza schouler PS1. I’ve used mine every singe day for 6 years. And it just gets better and better. Look on vesitaire collective for a second hand one

Ooh hands they do look nice. I also need to commit to the everyday thing so that it gets all squashy

I swapped quite often but I always go back to my battered brown bag, it has softened and looks better a bit battered and is just a good size with handy pockets, but it so very basic almost bordering on bland but it's just such a good bag.
