Well-known women and their lipstick

Does anybody buy lipstick after seeing it on well-known women? I have a few I’ve seen worn by Amal Clooney and similar public figures.

I either buy them solely because I like the colour, or because I admire the person (and like the colour). Tried to buy the lipstick Hilary Clinton wore during the presidential debate but alas they wouldn’t ship to Australia.

Also have a fascination with the lipstick of historical figures....even Thatcher.....

Anyone else?

No.

Crystal87 · 29/10/2019 06:32

No I only buy the colours that suit me and I usually stick to the same ones. I don't care what celebrities use.

StoatofDisarray · 29/10/2019 06:41

No, because they have different skin tones from me! I think Eva Green looks amazing but she has warm toned skin and I have cool toned skin so why would I buy the same lipstick as her? It would make me look sallow.

trendingsomewhere · 29/10/2019 08:55

How do you know what brand/colour lipstick they are wearing?

StoatofDisarray · 29/10/2019 09:14

Makeup artists sometimes post about their work on celebrities, especially for red carpet events. Google, basically.

What's Maggie Thatcher's lipstick. I often buy make up worn by celebrities etc. I love make up and seeing how great some people look in certain lipsticks makes me itch to pay them.

Sakura7 · 29/10/2019 10:33

No, because I prefer to find something that suits my own skin tone and colouring.

I got a bit obsessed by the nude lipstick Kate Silverton wore to read the news a few years ago as she is similar colouring to me. Managed to find out it was a Chanel one and found a No7 that suited me and was almost the same. Been wearing it for work ever since.

I always love Taylor Swifts red lipstick. After extensive online research procrastination I discovered she's either wearing Mac Ruby Woo or Nars Dragon girl apparently. I bought Ruby Woo and it's lovely but I'm not convinced it's the exact shade she's wearing.

Chanel Boy is the "go to" nude colour. I do sometimes check out brands and colours in beauty shoots where a look is highlighted that would suit me. Not bothered about celebrities though.

JaneJeffer · 29/10/2019 11:37

Have you seen this OP?

Honeybee85 · 29/10/2019 11:40

I remember going to the MAC Counter years ago because I heard Kim K wears their lipstick in Angel. Oddly enough I bought it but have worn it maybe twice. It looked absolutely horrible on me.

elQuintoConyo · 29/10/2019 11:40

Not unless Cyndi Lauper is still wearing her Heather Shimmer.

TattiePants · 29/10/2019 12:35

@JaneJeffer I immediately thought of that Lisa Eldridge video too!

NormaBean · 29/10/2019 13:58

If I see a celeb with similar skin, hair and tones to me wearing a lipstick that works then I’ll investigate and try it. Same for eyeshadows and so on.

For some reason lipstick never looks right on me though, I’m not sure what it is.

BusterGonad · 29/10/2019 15:20

I'm actually quite lucky because most lipsticks suit me, I'm pale with dark hair so I'm okay with most colours except true browns and really nude nudes. I'll happily experiment with colour and I'm sucker for a good advertising campaign, Hello Dior lipstick with Kate Moss in a black cab, and Lancôme with Emma Watson wearing the most amazing fuchsia lipstick (Rock and Roll Fuchsia) omg that lipstick was amazing and looked divine! My all time favorite!
