Work Xmas party

Yes, I know it's early! (NC for this in case colleagues spot it)
I need help! dress code revealed today as "glitz and glamour". There is a Hollywood theme and the venue is a naice hotel for lunch (not an evening do)
I am early 30s, size 8-10. Don't like cross over necklines and would like to wear a dress but other than that not sure where to start. Wary of dressing too short/young but think I erred too much on the side of caution last year and looked a bit frumpy/too Morticia-esque in a long sleeved/knee length black velvet dress! Most colleagues are either 10 years older than me or 10 years younger so no one in a similar age bracket to compare notes with.
Any suggestions gratefully received...

I went to a glitz and glamour Xmas theme party last year and wore something very similar to this

I’m 30 and a size 12.

This site always has some lovely dresses and they are very flattering.

reformedheffalump · 28/10/2019 21:18

Thanks for the replies! ☺️The first one is very like a lot of the things I wore in my twenties and the second one is similar to what I wore last year... I guess I'm looking for something in between, though it may not exist!
Should've mentioned am 5' 5", so usually have to get hems taken up to on the knee as anything below the knee (unless floor length!) makes me look even shorter...

Jigsaw has a lovely velvet jumpsuit.

I saw something perfect the other day runs off to find it

Here www.silkfred.com/boutiques/john-zack/clothing/silver-deep-v-wrap-over-sequin-dress

The model was wearing it in a video on Facebook. Your stats, my god it looked stunning.

reformedheffalump · 29/10/2019 07:08

Thanks @sheshootssheimplores, that is stunning! No way I could wear either such a high split or low cut in front of my colleagues though.
Maybe I'm just too picky, having trawled websites for hours now there is just nothing that seems appropriate. I want 'elegant' that still fits in with the theme without either being frumpy or looking like I'm trying to match my 21-year-old colleagues. Sigh.

Wear whatever style looks nice in day clothes but in more party fabric.

I’m 49. I’m planning sequin shorts, opaques.

AliciaQuays · 29/10/2019 07:11

I saw a cool silver sequin one in Tesco fgs yesterday. Skirt sleeve. Short. Loose, so really casual. Do with heeled ankle boots. Cool hair do.

Looked effortless

Also love this look. Think the key is not trying too hard OP

OP you're early 30s! What on earth would be wrong with dressing like your younger colleagues?!

FWIW I'm 31, and about the same size and height to you. I wear the same stuff I would have worn at 20 I reckon. Whatever your age, wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in. No one should feel frumpy either I'm still going to be wearing my boots/dress/tights combo at 80 I reckon. And skinny jeans
