Earrings on second/ third hole problem!

I’ve had 2nd 3rd holes for over 25 yrs. I’d really like to use them - but although the holes are viable, the skin reacts to anything l put in them! I don’t have this issue with my original hole: l can wear anything!
What is the best metal etc...that is the most hypoallergenic: less likely to irritate?
Is that there a cream:lotion l don’t know about? Thank you 😊

Have you tried titanium? That's what works best for me, only really works if you're okay with a grey metal though.

Thanks bearium l would be. I’ll take a look!

Titanium is a very hypoallergenic metal, and it's cheap too. You'd be better off going to a proper piercers and looking at their jewellery. It's not all massive barbells these days, you can get some lovely labret studs to wear as earrings and nice delicate things.

I have a titanium wedding ring because I react so badly to jewellery. I've never had an issue with titanium in piercings. Good quality silver jewellery is my second choice.

I think this is partly down to lack of use. I go through periods where I wear earrings a lot and others when I don’t - if I put earrings in for the first time in a while it always feels sore for a few days before adapting and being ok again. Gold is generally better than silver, I find.

Bee maybe the Tattoo/piercing place might be a good idea. I’m going near there tomorrow.
You’re right little maybe l just need to use them more? I get so impatient! Grin

I couldn't wear anything other than gold (though I never tried titanium) in my cartridge piercing. My lobe piercings were all fine with whatever until recently, and now I can only tolerate silver/gold/titanium in them. They're in use all the time cleaned often too so god knows what's prompted that. Titanium and proper piercing shops is definitely a good shout.

I found if I didn't wear any earrings in those holes for a while, starting with light ones kind of eased any discomfort. Also I like to stack my earrings, so I wear alot of gold plated ones, which I paint with clear nail polish to stop any reactions or tarnishing.

Mine go a bit like this sometimes. I smear some savalon over the post of the earring before I put it in, and it seems to soothe rather than aggravate.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/10/2019 08:23

I do the same as Rachey. Savlon really helps. Also mine are generally fine with sterling silver, but I 'treated ' myself to some rose good studs and they made my ears really manky.

Thanks again for the latest replies- l think l will try the posts in Savlon first!
And use titanium!
See how that works! Smile
