How well do you find the elastic lasts on Chelsea boots?

I’m looking for a pair of black ankle boots, non-clumpy, with a very low heel, and was hoping to find some with a zip, but the only suitable ones I’ve been able to find have elastic rather than a zip. I’ve never bought boots with elastic in before as I don’t know how well it would last. Does anyone have experience of this, please?

Mine have been fine - I've usually ended up donating them before they die. You don't really flex it while wearing them.

The elastic on my Hobbs boots is fine in terms of stretch. I do think the leather edging around the elastic is a little scruffy looking (this is the second year and I wear them a lot).

I have had mine for about 3 or 4 years, and they are still going strong. They were from Sainsburys.

I got the Barbour Abigail boots. They’ve had lots of wear and still in excellent condition.
