What do I do with my hair? Help!

I’ve had a shortish bob for about 6 years and got a bit bored so have been growing it down. It’s now just above my shoulders at the front and sits on my shoulders/base of my neck at the back. I love it’s long enough to tie up now but finding that because it takes longer to style (I usually wash and leave to dry the night before then straighten in the morning) I’m just tying it up in a ponytail all the time. I’m rubbish at doing any nice updos but I’m not a morning person so getting up even earlier than I already do to spend half an hour doing my hair is just not going to happen. I have quite a lot of quite fine hair so if left unsettled and down it tends to go all flicky and looks a mess. I love the slightly wavy longer bob look (think Holliday Granger in The Capture) but my attempts at achieving this so far have not been great. I’ve tried using curlformers curlers but was waaay too curly. Yesterday I had a go using my hair straighteners and initially was a bit too curly but after about an hour had dropped out enough to how I wanted it. Took me forever to curl each section though and curls have completely gone this morning.
So my questions are....do I need to use a curling iron? Is a Dyson Airwrap worth the huge price tag? Any ideas of how I can have my hair cut so I keep the length but it’s easy to style? Or am I being unrealistic and these sorts of styles require more input than I’m hoping to give? Thanks!
