Hello,
I have really dry sky - even worse at this time of year. I have tried all sorts of serums before my morning moisturiser and have just run out. Before buying more of the same (l'occitane shea comforting oil) I thought I'd see if anyone had any better recommendations.

I love one of the decleor ones but I've forgotten its name and it was extremely expensive.

Thanks

My skin is also prone to be dry, and so use Decleor Neroli oil (maybe you tried this one?), followed by the Aldi Q10 serum under my moisturiser. The Aldi serum is worth trying if you haven’t already.
I also use ESPA Overnight Hydration Therapy as a boost whilst sleeping.

cyclingwife · 27/10/2019 18:56

Thanks @countdowntonap I think it was the neroli oil, thanks!

I haven't tried any Aldi face care products. I might make a detour on my way home and pick some up, thanks.

Yes I find a really good night cream does help too.

Actually the serum was about £60 so may be not the Neroli. It was a beautiful smell but such a little amount for so much.

I use everything Kiehl’s but tbh it’s the whole routine, there is no one magic product.
My morning routine is:
Cucumber toner
Iris extract
Hydroplump serum
Avocado eye cream
Ultra facial cream
SPF 50

cyclingwife · 27/10/2019 19:09

Thanks @7Worfs, yes i do whole routine of toner, serum, eye cream, moisturiser, primer in the mornings and extra thick moisturising in the evenings.

Most of my routine products are elemis but their serums only last a few weeks compared to others and so I'm trying to find something else to try.

Superdrug do a great own brand hydrating serum and it costs peanuts. I’ve been using it since I read a Sali Hughes recommendation.

I get quite dry skin too and have found that using Elemis pro collagen rose balm cleanser has really helped. It's really moisturising and softening but also the cloth cleansing aspect removes any flaky dry patches. Also you can just massage it off with warm water and it turns milky and rinses away!

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 27/10/2019 19:14

I use The Ordinary Buffet and I bloody love it. I use it underneath Weleda Skin Food, but that is quite greasy so might not be for everyone but that combo keeps my dry skin looking lovely and hydrated and plumped.

7Worfs · 27/10/2019 19:16

Hmm I used Elemis years ago and found their stuff a bit thin, didn’t hydrate me enough.

Elieza · 27/10/2019 19:17

If you don’t buy from QVC already, have a look at the prices on there.

Dramaofallama · 27/10/2019 19:19

I use a drop of youth serum from the body shop under my moisturiser at night.
During the day I use Vichy mineral serum under my moisturiser.

cyclingwife · 27/10/2019 19:29

@Allthewine ooh I might try that thanks.

@GingerRogers84 thanks I use the elemis pro collagen balm cleanser at night. Love the smell and the feel of it. Have realised as I've been away I haven't used it for a week so may be why I'm feeling drier than normal even without my serum.

@PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind I have tried the Weleda skin food but not tried any The Ordinary products. It's not a brand I'm familiar with but will look out for it, thanks

@Elieza ooh can you buy online from QVC? I only know it as a shopping channel ... off to have a look thanks. I try to shop around and have found 3 for 2 on elemis products which is really worthwhile!

@Dramaofallama Ooh I haven't used vichy for years, I'm tempted to look out for that as I remember liking it . Thanks

I use the Ordinary Buffet too (which I love) and then I follow it with Lidl’s version of the Aldi Q10 serum that is mentioned above. I prefer the Lidl one, it has hylauronic acid and feels nicer on my skin than the Aldi one. I think it’s £2.99 but it’s one of my favourite products ever. Then I use a moisturiser over the top.
If you’re trying the Ordinary you could also get their Hylauronic acid serum, it’s fantastic for dry skin and has such a plumping effect.

cyclingwife · 27/10/2019 19:43

@Elieza thank you!!! Have just found QVC website and have found some great deals on Elemis Grin

OP posts:
GingerRogers84 · 27/10/2019 19:45

@Elieza I have to be restrained with QVC! Grin

Wehttam · 27/10/2019 19:45

It’s expensive but the Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro serum is a miracle.

Also make sure you are drinking as much water as physically possible, your skin will thank you for it.

cyclingwife · 27/10/2019 20:11

@Wehttam good point, I have a soda stream and so get through so much more water than I previously drank.
I like the idea of miracle working serums, and have been known to spend ££ on products, but there's always the risk they aren't THAT great.

I have Clarins dehydrated skin serum and it seems lovely

Elieza · 27/10/2019 21:20

Hee hee hee, OP did you know you get 30 days to try whatever you buy at home too? It means you can try stuff and if you dont like it you just pay to send it back. I’ve done it a few times no probs. No questions.
They also do pay by instalments on many things. No interest.
And to top it all they do a daily deal called Today’s Special Value (TSV) which comes on from 9pm daily until midnight the next day. So between 9pm and midnight each day during the crossover period you have two special deals available.

What’s not to like. It’s all the good brands you like. Just watch out for the TSVs as they are even better value. Generally a bundle of products from whichever brand of its makeup or cosmetics. Start looking daily. Today’s is a microdermabrasion thing or yesterdays gtech vacuuming set is still available. I’m waiting for the next liz Earle TSV. Love the cleanse and polish.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 27/10/2019 21:30

I use Nip+Fab Dragons Blood Plumping Serum. I keep an eye on the Nip+Fab website as they regularly have half price sales and I buy a load of it then.

Jaffacakebeast · 27/10/2019 21:32

The Elemis ones are fab, but tbh organic rose hip is almost as good and only about a 5er a pop, I couldn’t be without it in the winter

JessicaRarebit · 27/10/2019 21:35

Decree is amazing
