Ilse Jacobsen Hooded Raincoat

I have bought myself one of these wonderful raincoats but stupidly didn't try it with the hood up when I was in the shop. I wore it today in the rain, put the hood up and discovered that it not only covered my head but also the top half of my face! It's ginormous! Apart from wearing a baseball cap or something with a peak to keep it up so I can actually see where I'm going, are there any other solutions out there?! I have even thought of getting it altered somehow. First world problems I know, but it's an expensive coat and I can't believe I am the first person to have this problem!

Enlighten me please...!

It's not just you. Mine is the same. When I cycle I can fit my bike hat underneath it and the peak of the helmet stops it falling down over my face so I can see oncoming traffic, but obviously I don't wear my hat when I'm walking about. I have no idea why they have such ginormous hoods, I feel I have to walk around with my nose in the air to see what's going on when the hood's up, or wear a baseball type cap underneath.

Fold the front of the hood back a bit? I have to do this with a Rains DK waterproof I have

I have an awesome Levis parker that does this so I too would love s solution! It's so warm, looks cool but pop the hood up and it's like a sensory deprivation pod

I wear a scarf around the outside of the neck of the coat, to pull the hood down a bit. I've been meaning to take it in for alterations. Apart from that its a great coat. Maybe Danish people have really long necks

Every other mum at my DCs’ school seems to have acquired one of these coats this season! Sorry, can’t help with the hood thing but this brand seems to have really taken off.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! Thank you all. I'd rather not fold it back but I think I'll try the local seamstress to see if she can work some magic. Such a shame although I did laugh at the thought of all those long-necked Danes wandering around happily in the rain!

I bought my Ilse Jacobsen when i lived in DK and the hood is maddening unless I put my hair up in a high bun ( like most Danish women). And yes, you can fit a bike helmet underneath

I'm sure people were staring at me when I had my hood up!

A case of style over substance...

Does it have those toggles at the end of the hood? You need to pull the string through and tighten the toggles to keep it round your face.
Not exactly pretty though.

I'm a dressmaker and would stitch a tab halfway down to pull the front and back together.

Possibly they do! I gave up in the end as the coat also annoyed me by bunching up in front when I walked so I sold it
