Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever used a caffeine shampoo?
If so which one ?
What difference did it make to your hair?
Would you recommend it?

Yes, I've used them; I used the Plantur 39 one when my hair started thinning due to issues with my thyroid. I used it in conjunction with The Ordinary Hair Density Serum and it definitely helped a bit :)

TheQueef · 23/10/2019 09:00

Plantur turned my pals hair Orange. No idea if it had henna in it but it was very Russ Abbot Smile

Floisme · 23/10/2019 09:01

I'm using Plantur 39 too. Quite honestly I don't know. The thinning hasn't visibly got any worse but that could be pure coincidence.

Greyhound22 · 23/10/2019 09:04

I'm using the Plantur at the moment - my MIL bought it round - I'm very anaemic (as in had 4 transfusions in the last couple of weeks) and I really think it has helped and I've tried quite a few different things. I've got ombre hair so I'm now checking the bottom hasn't turns orange.

I’ve got this shampoo in my amazon basket. I’m a bit scared about it turning my dyed blonde hair orange though 😬😬😬

princessTiasmum · 23/10/2019 10:30

I have used it,made no difference whatsoever, now using Nioxin, smells of peppermint ,which is supposed to be good for hair loss,

il0vew1ne · 23/10/2019 10:31

I have used Plantur 39 with no effect whatsoever.
Also tried Alpecin Caffeine Hair Shampoo - did nothing.
Have tried a couple of others from amazon - they did nothing.

I find that a very gentle shampoo is better, less hair loss.

onalongsabbatical · 23/10/2019 10:35

Actual research would suggest that they're useless. I read this somewhere ages ago, sorry, no link.

Aderyn19 · 23/10/2019 10:53

Get some iron tablets and vitamin b as well, if you are having issues with thinning hair. I did all 3 (and had blood tests - turned out I was anaemic) and I think it helped.
I lime the basic plantur 39 in the green bottle. Didn't like the coloured ones - they made my head itch.

Mary54 · 23/10/2019 11:23

I tried plantur 39. Didn’t use it long enough to see if it helped thickness/condition. Did notice that it took color out of my hair. I am/was a blonde, now have about 50% grey. Was noticeably more silver with this shampoo.

wouldntmindbeingmrsw · 23/10/2019 20:37

Thank you for your comments everyone.

I have been using Alpecin double effect for a couple of hair washes, and know it's too early to notice any difference yet.But I wanted to ask opinions.
I think less hair is falling out though. But that could be down to I have also been taking iron tablets for about 6 weeks too. I'm going to try the vitamin B advice, but know it will probably take a while to notice a difference,as my hair is bust length.
Thanks again x

I am doing all this Vit B12, Vit d iron, even though my ferritin is fine now, Biotin, all sorts, but I read ginger is good so bought some Ginger shampoo from the £1 shop,it also had hydrolysed collagen in it,willing to try anything now
Also going to get some Saw Palmetto oil from Amazon, which is good for the testosterone when it changes into DHT which shrinks hair follicles

I have research hair loss so much I hink I know more than my Dr Grin

sheshootssheimplores · 24/10/2019 18:00

I’ve read about dht blocker shampoo but don’t really understand the science.

princessTiasmum · 24/10/2019 23:36

sheshoots the testosterone converts to DHT apparently and it is that that makes your hair fall out if you are a woman, testosterone is good for men,but not women where hair is concerned,
Too much T in women can make you have hairy legs and facial hair, but DHT is testosterone converted from T
You could google it re;hair loss might explain it better than I can
