I've seen this Spanish brand recommended on MN over the last few years especially the Bota Kate (Middleton). Has anyone experience of this brand? I'm especially wondering about sizing as postage is expensive so don't want to get it wrong!! I'm looking at this model:
Caza Maxima
as my legs are too short for the Bota Kate!

I’d say true to size but legs are quite slim, at least on the two styles I bought. So might not fit a chunkier calf.

The boot you have linked to is a unisex hunting boot so is likely to be generous of calf. I have the Penelope Chilvers equivalent and I love them.

I have got boots from this brand. I love them they are fantastic quality. They are very very snug on the calves. They also come up quite tall on the leg.

OatyGoaty · 24/10/2019 07:17

Are these meant to be country boots?

Aldibaldi555 · 24/10/2019 09:00

Oaty they are Spanish riding boots but I use them as “country boots”. I do ride and can wear them for riding too.

Tried on some things of their’s in a shop in Madrid. I’m a 5.5 UK sizeThe 39 was a generous fit on me, the 38 was nearly big enough not quite (colour I liked was out of stock in 39). So true to size but enough room for thick socks kind of thing. Calf sizes are quire slim but not ridiculously so.

Quality is amazing btw, especially for the price.

OatyGoaty · 24/10/2019 14:20

What are the soles inside like? Are they flat and are they padded?

Aldibaldi555 · 24/10/2019 18:53

Oaty my boots are an older model, a few seasons old. Soles are fairly flat inside & only slightly padded. I can’t comment on the boots OP had linked to.

If you are looking for really supportive, moulded soles you might be better with proper walking boots, although I find my Spanish riding boots fine for walks.

I have boots from this brand. I don’t find them snug on the calves at all but they fit well which is unusual for knee boots on me as usually they are huge. I vary between two sizes - in these boots I got the smaller size and they’ve been great.

They arrived within a week of ordering.

OatyGoaty · 27/10/2019 14:55

@Aldibaldi555 Thanks

LuluBellaBlue · 27/10/2019 15:00

Love these! Does anyone know if they’re waterproof?

LaPampa · 27/10/2019 15:24

Mine came with a polish and I’ve worn them in the rain this week and retained dry feet.

pinkhousesarebest · 28/10/2019 00:03

I have the Kate ones. I use them for riding but I ordered and wore them for a long time without a horse in tow. I don’t have the slimmest of calves and they are fine- generous even. They fit true to size and polish up beautifully, even with loads of abuse.

pinkhousesarebest · 28/10/2019 00:06

Words just checked the prices- they have hugely increased since I bought mine. Think I paid 80 euros - but that could be 6/7 years ago.
And they’re still going strong.

furtivefeline · 28/10/2019 04:04

Ooh thanks for all the replies!

I had found a size chart on their website and dutifully measured my feet with a pencil and ruler. According to that I should need a 37... I’m normally a 5 or even 5.5 UK size so I emailed Valverde to check and they said to stick to 37 hence my post!

Mangosalsa thanks - That’s very helpful - I should probably go for a 38 in that case. If they’re too big I can always wear thick socks or even an insole whereas too small is no good!

Pinkhouses - Thanks for that. I’m glad they’re good quality. I do really like the Kate ones! Apparently they come up high on the leg -44cm -which would be above the knee on me! Penelope Chilvers do a shorter version but they’re sadly out of my price range.

This hunting boot is the most similar to the Kate that I could see with a shorter height of 40cm. Definitely not going to do any hunting in them Grin Hopefully the calves won’t be too massive even though they’re unisex...
