Revolution make-up is brilliant isn't it?

Just discovered this and my goodness- am impressed. What have other stuff have fellow likers found worthwhile?

So far I rate the matte foundation, iconic eye palette, face powder, highlighter, lip topper and powder matte lipsticks.

Anything to avoid?

They're brilliant! Particularly the eyeshadows and lipsticks.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 21/10/2019 18:12

I swear by the concealer for my under eye circles. The coverage is great but it's not at all chalky or dry.

PineappleTart · 21/10/2019 18:21

The eye palettes are fantastic and great value. I may have a lot

ThanksForAllTheFish · 21/10/2019 18:22

The bits I’ve tried have been ok. The eyeshadow colours last well and are nice enough to apply. My issue is too many glittery type colours in the pallets and not enough matte colours. Also shade range for foundation/concealer etc is no where near pale enough for me so I couldn’t never try it if I wanted to. Not tried the lipsticks because I’m stupidly fussy about them and tend to stick to mac. I have got a couple of other bits that have also been good, highlight powder and a setting powder. Not my all time favourites but decent for the money and perfectly wearable.

InsertFunnyUsername · 21/10/2019 18:23

There primers, setting sprays etc are brilliant too. Recommend the contouring and highlighting palette aswell.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 21/10/2019 18:26

Brilliant- thanks :)

I have the concealer too- forgot about that one- agree it's excellent.

Anyone tried the mascaras?

OP posts:
Wineislifex · 21/10/2019 18:31

The banana powder and brow pomade are brill...basically exactly the same as the much more expensive brands they get their inspiration from 😝

Layoverlife · 22/10/2019 09:10

Has anyone used their blushes? I agree the make up is great for the price! ♥️ The palettes

marblesgoing · 22/10/2019 09:31

Love their primers, shadow pallets, foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, liners, gel liners, can you tell I use their stuff.

Revolution chunky mascara in a gold tube is the best I've found at £8.

Elllllle · 22/10/2019 09:37

I hate the foundation sticks and concealer (chalky and poor longevity) but looks like I'm in the minority

MrsMaiselsMuff · 22/10/2019 09:37

@ThanksForAllTheFish They do matte palettes, there are nine of them listed on their site. Not sure when you last looked at their foundations but they do fifty different shades, I'm super pale and found a match.

It's great stuff OP, I'd like to try their skincare too.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 22/10/2019 10:01

@MrsMaiselsMuff I’ve never looked on their website as I don’t order much online (not make up anyway). I just go with what’s in my local Superdrug store. That’s probably why everything I’ve seen has lots of glitter shades. I did buy one pallet last year by them and about half the shades were matte - I only used 2 colours from it though so a bit of a waste for me. I’ve since found a Barry M mini pallet that has all the colours I love so I’ve been buying that ever since (it’s called fall in love). I like eyeshadows in reds/oranges/browns/greys so it’s probably just me being fussy.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 22/10/2019 10:06

For foundation I’m a Mac NW15 (which is still very slightly too dark in the winter but it’s the lightest shade - the N10 is not lighter despite that lower number - and it’s way more yellow).
I will have a look at the foundations but really not holding out hope as shades named ‘fair’ and ‘porcelain’ are generally about 3 shades too dark. The rimmel one is Just about passable. Kat Von D actually have a very good shade match for me but the formula is awful.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 22/10/2019 12:06

ThanksForAllTheFish

Revolution F1 is apparently a shade match to Mac NW15. They also do an F0.5 which is lighter. My sister is basically a ghost and has found good matches in the drug store.

EatenByDinosaurs · 22/10/2019 12:18

Yes they are amazing! I love the Dragon's Heart highlighter, I wear it as a blush and swirl the brush over all the colours to get a good mix, it gives me such a natural glow, despite looking a tad garish in the box. Its my HG blush.

SapphireSeptember · 23/10/2019 19:01

I love Revolution! Especially their highlighters, eyeshadow palettes, liquid lipsticks and matte lipsticks. Buying one of their highlighter palettes has so far prevented me from buying about three ABH ones which are WAY more expensive. Grin

PennyNotSoWise · 23/10/2019 20:45

I love their Conceal and Define foundation! Their pale shades are amazing, and it's hard for me to find a brand that caters to ghosties! I'm yellow as well, and their yellow toned foundation is actually yellow toned, instead of being orange! It's great make up for the price!

I'm considering trying the concealer too. Currently use the Nars Creamy one, but I've heard good things about the Revolution one, it's on my to try list.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 27/10/2019 20:29

Just wanted to say thanks for the 'conceal and define' foundation recommendations- F4 is a perfect match for my NW20 skin tone. The formulation is excellent too- it covers enough yet doesn't pool in lines etc. Wears pretty well too throughout the day with the occasional bit of powder on my t-zone.

Another great discovery this week is Essence 'this is me' lipstick. I bought the matching nail varnish too. I think shade 05 is my favourite which is supposed to be for tan skin but works well on my paler colouring. Stays on without feathering.

I've only really tried the dupe eyeshadow palettes (I've got the Two Faced chocolate bar and the ABH Modern Renaissance and Subculture ones) but they are excellent, especially for the price.

I also have a highlighter and the Radiance palette (which I think is supposed to be a dupe for Hourglass) and they are OK but quite glittery and not as finely milled as their more expensive counterparts. Still good for the price though!

Same here, NW15. Don’t know if you’re a fan of stick foundation but if so Boots No7 stick in Crème is a good match or for liquid Estée Lauder Double Wear in Alabaster or Shell.
