How do I get the roots to lighten to match the ends? I used the same dye I usually do which sometimes causes brassy colour that is easy sorted with purple shampoo, but the purple shampoo didn't effect the top colour and just made the lighter bits purple making it even more of a contrast!

I have left the roots grow out a lot more than usual this time so the colour difference is more dramatic. (Natural colour is a light brown/mousy)
Help please....can't really afford salon prices so need a home remedy really.

Box dyes dont lighten much. You really need to use bleach to get roots lighter

Did you use a 20% peroxide this time instead of 40%? It looks as if it wasnt left on long enough.

Try again but be warned that the condition will be compromised so you’ll need a treatment plan afterwards.
