Midi dresses - which coat?

I’m really into midi dresses and boots at the moment. Only thing is, do they look silly under a shorter (knee length ) coat? I have a lovely long Hobbs coat but when the weather is mild like it is now, I think it’s too warm to wear such a coat!

The 'rules' are that your coat should be longer than your skirt. But I think the rule book was torn up a few years ago. Try on the skirts with a variety of coats and see what looks best. If it's mild I'd wear a leather jacket with a long skirt but it also depends on colours and fabrics of the voat and skirt.

I think a jacket looks better.

Ah but how to keep the midi length dry and from blowing up around our heads when the nastier winds and rain come.
Cropped leather jackets and short coats won’t suffice, and wool might not work either.

A dilemma!

I’m trying to see me in my midi skirt and my below the knee didricksons parka. I’m undecided.

I think they do look silly, i think the rules are due to it spoiling the clean lines.
I always go short or long, mostly I go long as I hate being cold and like to look smart.
