Can anybody help?!

Hi everyone, my husbands 40th birthday is looming in 2 weeks and I've organised a party for us and some friends at a bar in Brum.

I have a few issues so I'm turning to the lovely people of Mumsnet for some help....I'm really out of touch with what to wear 'out out'. I don't want to look frumpy & out of date, or like I’m trying too hard....What do people in their late 30s wear out these days?

I had my youngest DC 11 months ago, and have recently lost 3 stone (still more to go!) but coming in at a size 14 in most places. I still have a v wobbly stomach so want to hide that as much as possible, and I have big boobs so anything too high necked or frilly is not ideal. I'm still getting used to my shape and have no idea how to dress it.

I am very short (5'2), with a very short torso, so generally have to buy from petite ranges for my top half. I'm not great with anything too colourful, I don't mind a splash of colour but tend to stick to more muted navy, dark green etc. Budget, I guess up to £150, but cheaper would be better!

Can anybody help this clueless, out of touch oldie?!

Depends on the bar. Some bars in Brum are much dressier than others.

Thank you @iamtinkabella I love the wrap dress, annoyingly only in mustard in petite, and I think the regular may be too long....but I might try it anyway. Also haven't thought about a jumpsuit before, but might have a look for some options. The quest continues! Wink x
