Help please! Can you help me find a black dress for 10yo long and lean DD?

Hi all, I'd love to tap your collective expertise. DD needs a dress for her orchestra concerts. She's quite girly but it needs to be black. As she's 10 we'd prefer a more 'innocent' style rather than 'clubwear'!
Can anyone help please?

This is difficult. River Island have a few. Black isn’t really a child colour is it? Try Amazon. JL doesn’t appear to have any black dresses at all for girls. What a shame they don’t have black skirt and white shirt! Far easier!

(the one i linked wouldn't be as full skirted on your dd as she won't wear a petticoat and so wont stick out at the back!)

You may get longer wear out of a blouse and skirt. Still tricky to find suitable stuff. The first time I needed a long black skirt for my daughter I found an adult style that I could stitch pleats into at the waist and a bit of elastic at the back. That actually lasted her several years (still fits actually, though no longer a "long" skirt age 16), I just let out one set of tucks!

H&M, really basic plain jersey black dress suits my tall, skinny ten yr old did rather well. She likes black!

We had the same issue - eventually we got this skirt from Amazon [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/Girls-Maxi-Length-School-Skirt/dp/B005FR4M8Y?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 skirt] and twinned it witha long-sleeved thin black jersey - mine won't wear a blouse/shirt. It is fine considered it is only ever worn for a few hours.

We also have a Lilian from here lillian dress but it was a hand-me-down from an American friend. They have a great selection that aren't too adult and it looks as if they ship over here but the cost may be prohibitive

Possibly too sparkly

You would probably have more luck and choice on eBay, but quality can vary.
