Ouch! Wool jumper - help!

Just got a really nice jumper but it's 80% wool (other 20% acrylic). And so itchy! Please tell me there is a cure - I love it but no way can I wear it right now.

Put a very thin vest underneath? I hate wool next to skin unless cashmere.

sableandI · 16/10/2019 16:09

Time to return it. I got so itchy that my body turned red Confused

Binglebong · 16/10/2019 16:22

Vest won't work - it's arms and neck that are the problem. And I won't be returning as a charity shop bargain - I've been looking for one like it but non itchy for ages.

Uniqlo do some good thin base layers. Probably too warm for right now, but when it’s really cold, a base layer underneath would help.

Thanks, I'll check those out.

I doubt there are many people who can comfortably wear wool next to skin. Maybe cashmere, merino at a push.
I wear a shirt or long sleeved t-shirt underneath

user1471504234 · 16/10/2019 18:50

Wool doesn’t bother me at all! So I think some people are fine with it. Have you tried washing it OP? I have no idea if that will help but might be worth a try?

Veterinari · 16/10/2019 20:27

Cool wash and plenty of fabric conditioner

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/10/2019 20:29

I was going to say fabric conditioner.

DrFoxtrot · 16/10/2019 21:43

I have some clothes that require antihistamines to reduce the itching Blush I don't wear them very often!

elQuintoConyo · 16/10/2019 22:15

Is it made of bees?

Sorry, lame Big Bang reference Grin

I always always wear jumpers with a layer underneath: thin long-sleeved t-shirt or a blouse, depending on the jumper.

ClaudiaNaughton · 17/10/2019 08:45

Yes I also wear uniqlo long sleeve vests underneath and they’re easier to wash after each wearing.

Binglebong · 17/10/2019 08:49

Thanks all!

I struggle with this too. I have a beautiful All Saints pure wool sweater but I can only wear it for a few minutes before the itching drives me mad. I can't even wear a long sleeved t-shirt underneath as it has one cold shoulder, so you'd see the t-shirt.
