My birthday is coming up and my DH asked for present ideas. I went to Links of London website and was greeted with this:

I really like their jewellery and have quite many pieces. I'm surprised to learn they have been struggling, they just realised an entirely new line too. Feeling bit sad that another familiar and "go to" store is gone.

How have I missed this I check the news daily

JoJoSM2 · 12/10/2019 14:45

Last couple of times that I looked at their stuff, I didn't think the quality was good enough for the price tag so I'm not surprised.

ConfCall · 12/10/2019 14:48

What a shame. I feel for the staff.

thisgirlcanmoveon · 12/10/2019 15:52

I feel so much for the staff. Just been to pick up my bracelet that I'd had restrung, they rang me this morning saying come in today as they don't know when they will close. So a quick change of plans and a 2 hour round trip I managed to rescue my bracelet.
I love their stuff. The staff werew as lovely as ever and appeared in shock.

Such a shame.

Skinnychip · 12/10/2019 18:12

Their silver stuff was very very overpriced (like tiffany) but sad to see another shop close and people lose their jobs

Supersimkin2 · 12/10/2019 20:36

Well, they're coming down from the sweetie bracelet peak - that and the friendship bracelets did a Burberry ie they had a couple of massive hits that have now finally gone out of fashion.

They prob expanded too fast on the back of the bracelets and the Kate Middleton earrings. Shame, silver's very cheap and some of the designs were lovely and clever.

Shame, some of the designs were lovely.

GrumpyHoonMain · 12/10/2019 20:46

Ah well go to your local jeweller and buy some real gold jewellery for the same price.

AutumnRose1 · 12/10/2019 20:49

I'm surprised I didn't hear the news either!

BubblesBuddy · 12/10/2019 20:55

They were founded by Annoushka Ducas who also owns Annoushka! I hope they keep going. She designs outstanding jewellery. They are my “go to” if I’m buying new but always at Bicester Village!

AutumnRose1 · 12/10/2019 20:57

Looking it up....owned by Folli Follie. Sorry, I know this is S&B but just wondering if if it's businesses expanding too much or too fast again?

kitchensinkdrama19 · 12/10/2019 20:58

Annoushka Ducas went to my school and she came back to give a talk to the 6th form. It was one of the most inspiring things ever. She is incredibly humble. She said no one thought she'd do anything with her life and she couldn't quite believe that she was back. I thought she was just lovely.

This was around 1996/7
