Is this a smooth dry with movement or wavy/curly? Pic attached

Hi,

Had my hair trimmed and blow dried today and asked for "not poker straight and with movement through the ends. NOT curly though" and I got this. Tbh, this usually happens, regardless of the hairdresser, so I'm wondering if this is in fact, "movement" and I've been asking for the wrong thing.

There are no curling tongues involved, they usually just twist it round the barrel brush.

It looks curly to me but why don’t you just ask for loose waves rather than movement? Sounds like that’s what you’re after

milienhaus · 10/10/2019 19:09

Not the point I know but it looks lovely!

nobigotsallowed · 10/10/2019 19:16

@Chillichutney1, thanks. I would have thought that asking for waves would be more curly than movement, but maybe I just don't understand what movement is! Grin

@milienhaus, thank you! 😊 Just feels a bit OTT to me.

I'm not clear what 'movement' would look like in hair your length. Maybe you could take a photo in?

VincentVanGoughandhisear · 10/10/2019 19:39

Do you mean body? Or a bouncy blow dry?

Velveteenfruitbowl · 10/10/2019 19:39

Definitely curly. Just say very loose waves.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 10/10/2019 19:42

That’s curly.

Do you have a photo of what you want? I’m not sure what you mean by movement. Do you mean the backwards blow dry type of volume? That you have a slight flick in the ends of your hair?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 10/10/2019 19:47

Like this?

Yes, it probably is more bouncy than I'm after. I don't really like it curly, because it loses too much length and I'm not sure it suits me. Poker straight emphasises my moon face 😔

@JoxerGoesToStuttgart, sort of, yes.

Do you mean like this OP?

OP next time just say with movement but def not curly. Your hair does look amazing though Smile

Maybe try taking a pic in with you next time, so they know exactly what you want

Singinghollybob · 10/10/2019 21:02

Oh I love that style @ellapaella, that's how I've been trying (and failing) to do mine. Looks so simple though. I wonder how it's done?

Ellapaella · 10/10/2019 21:14

@Singinghollybob I do this with straighteners - just from about half way down the hair wrap a section of hair around the straightener and pull through. It does look nice but doesn't last very long, ok for a night out for me but wouldn't last a full day.

nobigotsallowed · 11/10/2019 11:55

@Ellapaella, similar I suppose.

@Chillichutney1, that's exactly what I did say Grin I think maybe people underestimate how naturally curly my hair is, so maybe aren't drying it completely?...

OP posts:
nobigotsallowed · 11/10/2019 11:59

Sort of like this. I woke up this morning and it was even more curly. I honestly looked like a poodle! So I just ran the straighteners lightly through it to calm it down.

Be good if I didn't have to use yet more heat though Hmm
