Yes - silver sandals, the Jimmy Choos would have been wowzers ... anything strappy would have been good.

I like stronger colours - the green Aga Khan dress was perfect imo - but it does move beautifully & the picture from the aeroplane is striking.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/10/2019 19:59

Given the situation in the area @RoseQuartzGlow, I think that's understandable!

Max's dress is amazing and she looks fantastic!

DoC looks beautiful but surprisingly nervous. Max - well, megawatt star power. She's the real deal as queens go Grin.

pastaparadise · 14/10/2019 20:10

I love Kate's dress! Love the colour, ombre effect, material and style. And looks great with the trousers underneath. Not keen on the shoes but they're inoffensive. I would hate to try to walk down those steps in front of the world's press though.... very brave...

MrsGrindah · 14/10/2019 20:13

Isn’t it funny how we all see things differently? Someone thinks she looks tense but I think she looks happy!

Laiste · 14/10/2019 20:15

Yes silver. Sparkles would have been a nice contrast to the modesty of the outfit and the matt of the fabric.

Socks and sandals ... imagine! But then - why not? This thread would have actually imploded GrinGrin

peridito · 14/10/2019 20:21

I agree the photographer has caught her looking a little phased .But that's only natural .Plus we're so accustomed to her megawatt smile ...

I don't like the outfit either ,a darker ,more saturated colour would have been better IMHO .Maybe teal ?

This is helpful about the trousers

Churidars, or more properly churidar pyjamas, are tightly fitting trousers worn by both men and women in the Indian subcontinent. Churidars are a variant of the common shalwar pants. Shalwars are cut wide at the top and narrow at the ankle. Churidars narrow more quickly, so that contours of the leg are revealed.

Horsemad · 14/10/2019 20:23

I love it, it's very appropriate. I agree the silver JCs would have looked gorgeous with it.

It's weird but to me the colour looks pale turquoise, rather than ice blue.

JaimeBronde · 14/10/2019 20:31

Funny how we all see different shades/colours as Kate's outfit looks aquamarine to me.
I agree about the shoes similar or toning colour or metallic would look better.

thisenglishlife · 14/10/2019 20:36

DOC didn't hold back on the gems. Although the sapphire ring doesn't look nice in the first photo (it does normally), how strange.

The salwar is churidar as the PP mentioned and the dress is anarkali style kameez.

Someone has posted this throwback on Twitter. Spot the similarities in colour and buttons on the wrists.

Max's outfit pays tribute to the Indian Sari, she looks abs gorgeous.

Kate's Churidar kameez is a bit meh.... Rather dismal looking shoes, heels too high.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/10/2019 20:47

@Wetdog

Yes Kate’s outfit is definitely an homage to Diana.
That icy blue was one of the best colours on her, whereas Kate looks much better in deeper jewel colours

AudacityOfHope · 14/10/2019 20:49

Katemilla Confused

Truly god awful outfit.

RomaineCalm · 14/10/2019 20:51

I like Kate's outfit - I think that style suits her. Perhaps would have preferred a pair of high strappy sandals with it.

In the pictures I saw I thought she looked a bit nervous or distracted.

BlingLoving · 14/10/2019 20:53

I think Kate looks amazing although would have gone with lower heels personally. I also think it is very subtle in that it's actually quite fitted and shows off her figure while still being very modest.

I like the colour on her too. And I actually always like the ice blue/turquoise stuff on her.

StCharlotte · 14/10/2019 20:56

I look very similar when I get off a plane after a long flight actually Ha ha I look more like Max did when she got off the plane - dull, static, flat hair... But she's made up for it tonight and I'd forgotten how much I love the Diamond Bandeau Tiara (and how much I miss Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor).

As for Kate, I was always told if you can't say anything nice...

AudacityOfHope · 14/10/2019 21:03

I just do not understand the propensity for themed dressing.

She's not obliged to wear tartan in Scotland and green in Ireland and a shalwar kameez in Pakistan, and so on.

It's perfectly possible to be appropriate without this silly pigeonholing that she goes in for. It's so unthinking and boring, patronising and rather silly.

thisenglishlife · 14/10/2019 21:04

Max's sari inspired cape dress, in case anyone missed it.

wetpants · 14/10/2019 21:06

I think Kate’s dress is a touch of ice-skating dress. But I do love ombre and think she looks stunning and very elegant.

thisenglishlife · 14/10/2019 21:06

Patronising and silly? No. Boring? Somewhat. Unoriginal and obvious? Yes.

Couldn't agree more.

queenofarles · 14/10/2019 21:08

The dress is a so so for me, but she looks beautiful.

They all do it, wearing national themed clothes on tours, H&M , C&C. Maybe it’s out of respect. to show admiration , who knows ! But I think arriving in a short coat dress won’t be as welcomed in Pakistan As a shalwar and Kameez inspired dress
