Old Lancome perfume - help please

Does anyone have any ideas? My mum used to wear a perfume in the 80's which I am pretty sure was by Lancôme. I think it was just called Noir (e)? but I don't recall it being Magie Noire and if I google picture of Magie Noire the bottles don't look the same. The bottle had a built in black plastic lid/sprayer and was oval shaped as far as I can remember. Any ideas what this could have been and was it even Lancôme? I can't even describe the scent just the memories. Sort of like the inside of an old posh handbag. I would love to smell it again if it rings any bells with anyone. Sorry its so vague!

What colour was the bottle - was it clear?

Pretty sure it was clear, perfume was quite a dark amber colour.

I think it must be Magie Noire tbh. That's exactly the description of it. I got a bottle 30+ years old.

ah great, thank you, I will see if I can find some to try. Knowing my luck it was some knock off just called Noir by Lancume or something! I did love it though.

I think it is Magie Noire too. It is quite strong and sweet smelling.
It did have an ellipitical shaped bottle with a black spherical lid. There was a bit of gold on the black too.

You can put it into Google search and there are photos of all the bottle styles.
I think it is discontinued now but I am sure someone will make a 'copy' of it.

Could it have been Paloma Picasso perfume? It had that type of bottle I think

Yep, it's Magie noire and my mum used to wear it too. It's the scent of my childhood. They changed the recipe (and she started reacting to something new in the formula ) then they discontinued it. My brother tracked down a bottle of the original recipe so that's kept safe in a drawer for special occasions..and I occasionally sniff it

I've just tried some in our HOF. It smelt familiar but not quite how I remembered it I guess that's the reformulation. Not sure if it is close enough to justify a bottle.

I think there is a perfumista thread ...you might be better asking the knowledgeable ladies or gents on that .

Hi, you can still buy Magie Noire and it's pretty similar to the original. Due to safety regulations from IFRA many ingredients were banned, limited or restricted so many of the classics are a little different, especially Opium. However if your Mum liked original Magie Noire then Paloma Picasso isn't a bad substitute. It has similar characteristics.

It called Maggie noir and the bottle used to be in a tall black and clear glass bottle, it was delisted but came back, and it's now in a clear square bottle & box is black & part of Lancome's classic range, other Lancome fragrances in classic range with same shape bottle are Climat & ô oui,

Sounds like either samsara or palomo Picasso as I had both

I think you may be describing Sikkim. If so, it has long been discontinued and the later reissue is nothing like the original .

Have a look at Tresor by Lancome. I have been wearing it forever. It is fabulous. It is a peach colour small bottle with a black spray and lid
