Can you find me a cardigan like this?

Madewell cardigan I love this but the reviews are poor and I think I'd have to return it to the US, if I didn't like it, which is expensive?

Can the MN S&B hive mind help me to find a similar one?

I'd like a chunky cardigan, not a thin one. I've also attached a photo in case the link doesn't work.

Can you find me a cardigan like this?

Pink rather than beige but this has a similar feel

No cables but similarly chunky here

Or here

www.celticandco.com/womens/clothing/cardigans/cable-cardi this is similar?

ThanksForAllTheFish · 07/10/2019 17:30

Hard to find one the exact same colour / length/ neckline but what you are looking for is an Aran Cardigan. The wool type, buttons and cable knit are very distinctive of aran knitwear. I will keep looking for you but hopefully knowing what they are called should help you find what you are looking for.

Thank you everyone Smile

I'd ordered and sent back the Gap one BigFatBloomers, what you can't tell from the photos is that cardigan has puffed shoulders and they are comically huge Grin they looked more like shoulder pads a la Dynasty in the 80s.

Viviene the La Redoute one is nice but not quite as chunky as I'm looking for.

In addition to the style I like the colour of the Madewell cardigan, the ecru mottled through with a brown thread. One of the things that puts me off is that it's not chunky enough.

ThanksForAllTheFish I'll keep searching using Aran as a search term.

Not the right colour though

VenusInBlurs · 07/10/2019 22:15

Another colour is fine but most of my cardigans are grey so I'm trying to avoid grey but I'd still consider it.

The thing about the colour of the Madewell cardigan is that the different coloured thread running through it makes the colour more interesting.

It's more the style I'm trying to find, the Madewell one is an up to date version of the older style.

Is that a name-change fail, OP?

huskyvoice · 07/10/2019 22:21

I was in H&M today buying clothes for the kids and although I tried to be blinkered to the adult sections as I'm trying not to buy for me…I did see that they have ALL of the chunky knits, I'm certain that you would find similar in there.

huskyvoice · 07/10/2019 22:22

CAVEAT - it was one of their biiiiiiig stores

ghislaine · 07/10/2019 22:26

How about this? arancrafts.com/en/all-ladies/51-3494-boyfriend-cardigan-x4241.html#/31-size-xs/330-colour_box-natural

If you want that mottled look, you might have luck using the term "flecked".

VenusInBlurs · 08/10/2019 00:14

Yes it is FamilyOfAliens Grin, well spotted, thank you. I name change every month or so since the Doxx/Simon attacks. I was one of the people who was genuinely affected, they took a detail of mine from MN and tried to use it.
Odd though, the MN app wouldn't let me namechange this morning. Then clearly it did. No harm done, IIRC I've only posted on one thread in each username. I don't post about anything personal on MN anymore.

I'll contact HQ and ask them to change it to one name or another to avoid confusion.

Back to cardigans, I'll take a look at those. Thanks everyone.

ghislaine that cardigan is lovely but in this case I'm looking for a shorter one.
I'll take a look at the rest of the site because they look good quality too.

Thanks huskyvoice I hadn't tried H&M, in the past I've found their quality can be hit and miss but I could always order and take a good look at it at home. At other times I've bought knitwear from H&M that looks good, keeps its shape and washes well. I'll take a look.

Or marled, the two terms seem to be interchangeable. The arancrafts website looks fab, I've bought the CelticandCo boyfriend cabled cardigan ansd it's lovely but too long for me (shortarse) but the arancrafts one looks perfect. What's the sizing like?

TheDandyHighwaywoman · 08/10/2019 23:23

huskyvoice nothing like it on H&M but there are some nice cardigans there anyway.

Thank you CountFosco and ghislaine I'll try a search using those terms.

www.boohoo.com/search?q=Cable+knit+cardigan

I got some nice (and very inexpensive) ones from boohoo recently.
