I’ve been experiencing diffuse hair shedding for around the last six months and it’s really been getting me down. I’m starting a new job tomorrow and would like your opinions on if it’s getting noticeable or not....

I cannot see any hair loss...

Blood test - get your hormone levels checked. Also start taking biotin and iron.

BlackSwan · 06/10/2019 17:14

It's not at all noticeable. But if you feel you're losing more hair than usual get it checked out. Don't stress.

sidesplittinglol · 06/10/2019 20:11

There's no hair loss from what I can see.

AnyFucker · 06/10/2019 20:12

What hair loss ? Confused Have you had a baby in the last year ?

SoyDora · 06/10/2019 20:15

I cannot see any hair loss.

@BlackSwan - Which hormone levels should I get checked? I had my fsh & lh tested to see if I was menopausal (I’m 39) and that was okay, my thyroid is fine as I’m on thyroxine, ferritin is good, vitamin D is good, the only thing out was vitamin b12 and folate which was below the bottom of the range x

OP do you suffer from acne - especially chin area?

Paddy1234 · 06/10/2019 21:30

I was exactly the same age as you when I suffered hair loss.
For the next seven years from about June to November it would shed.
In retrospect I think it was early menopause coming on.
I feel your pain ❤️

Sarahlouiseis33 · 06/10/2019 21:34

@Sunshinelollipops1 No acne, why do you ask? x

@Sarahlouiseis33 so I had diffuse hair loss and also acne round my chin and neck. I hadn’t put 2 and 2 together, but when I went to get treatment for acne the dermatologist said it was a hormonal imbalance. In my case too high testosterone, which cause my hair loss (basically the same reason men go bald). I’ve been put on spirolactone which has massively helped.

Sarahlouiseis33 · 07/10/2019 06:45

@Sunshinelollipops1I’ve been thinking maybe a hormone imbalance but my hairloss came on suddenly, one day it was fine the next day shedding?? Also I was on the combined pill Marvelon when it started??

Have you been ill in the past 3-4 months or very stressed? That can cause hair loss that appears after about 3 months
I had flu/pneumonia/infection which resulted in a hospital stay. 3 months later (when I was definitely on the mend) a lot of my hair fell out
It all regrew again after that - I had a weird halo for a while
