Going to a wedding in December and have bought this Hobbs dress. It's not a massive church-y wedding, it's the second marriage for both parties and it's a ceremony and reception in a hotel rather than something ultra formal. So no hats/fascinator.

Haven't really got a coat which will go but will I need one anyone given we're going to be inside all day? And what about shoes? Navy problaby?

I have no advice. But I wanted to tell you that I love that dress Smile

Yep Navy shoes but I think gold strappy sandals may work too!

OtraCosaMariposa · 04/10/2019 09:05

Thank you! I'm not really a "dress" person and this is something I will definitely wear again.

Gold strappy sandals in December doesn’t work and gives a massive problem with tights.

I would go navy classic shoes. You’ll get lots of wear out of them afterwards. I love navy suede!

For a bag I might go with the cream colour. I wouldn’t go cream with shoes and bag. I would simply wear a navy coat if needed. Put a brooch on the collar and wear a necklace. Could you find one with the contrast colour in it? Or just classy gold? I assume you are not wearing a hat.

I think navy looks great for a winter wedding and I’d keep it quite simple. Splurge on the brooch!

It’s a lovely dress, I’d probably go navy shoes and possibly a mustard bag. Or maybe a navy bag but with a colour detail.

Oh navy suede sounds lovely! Lovely dress. You probably don't need a coat.

I went to a wedding in December and froze my proverbials off in my nice coat, which looked nice but did bugger all to keep me warm. But then, we had to walk from the car to the church and back, then from the car into the venue. They were reasonable distances, as it was at an old country house and an old country church with no parking. An all day in a hotel event sounds a bit less romantic, but a lot more comfortable tbh, for a winter wedding!

Also, maybe grey or silver shoes?

OtraCosaMariposa · 05/10/2019 08:44

I have always had a "thing" about navy shoes as had to have that colour for school and hated them! Simple navy courts definitely the way to go though. The colour band around the bottom is more limey greeny yellow than mustard yellow so think i'll stick to the navy.
