Surely this is not impossible - top for exercise that flatters a tummy

I don’t know why this is so difficult. I want a top to wear for exercise that does not cling to my tummy but is not just a baggy T shirt. Ideally that is not too short either. Everything I find just clings around the waist (just emphasising my lack of one!).

I would like:-
Dri fit type material
Skims over rather than clings to a tummy
Sleeveless (no cap sleeves or anything like that)
Ideally £25 max

Currently I am wearing a long line black vest and then a dri fit sports top which ties at the side over it. I like this as it seems to flatter and is long enough to start covering my bum. I quite like the double layer look. But I am getting so hot with the non-sweat wicking material.

I also have a Sweaty Betty athlete top which is ok but still pretty clingy.

It can’t be too much to ask can it? I’m a size 10 usually.

Nike’s elastika tanks work well for me!

Thanks! Just had a look and they look nice.

I was going to say I love Nike vests. They also are comfy and look nice over crop tops and sports bras and layer well if you're exercising outside.

I shall investigate Smile.

Amazingly enough the best work out top I possess is from Aldi! Sleeveless, slightly A-line, with a mesh panel over shoulders and back to give it a bit of a lift - looks good with black crop workout bra underneath. I sized up so that it was a bit looser and doesn't cling when I get sweaty. It was only £3.99. If I'd have know how good it was I'd have bought a couple more.

Otherwise I get mine from Nike.

Interesting! My tie front top is from Aldi and so are my leggings, although I really should wear high waisted ones. I will keep a look out in there for tops.

This! Perfect. Two layers. Tummy skimmed. Sorry it's £30 rather than £25

That is great but only available in an extra small in the cheaper size which will be too small. Thanks though as it really does look good so I will keep a look out to see if it gets reduced again.

I've just had a couple from Next that hang rather than cling.

BrassicaBabe · 03/10/2019 19:04

Rats! Didn't notice that. It's my favourite running top (well before the weather went to crap!)

JoanLewis · 03/10/2019 20:03

I like the Gap Breathe tank tops (racer back ones) for the gym.

TooStressyTooMessy · 03/10/2019 20:34

Thanks all, I have some good ideas to look for now.

Sometimes H&M do A-line sports tops. another good site is My protein, they also sell some A-line tops and at a reasonable price.

TooStressyTooMessy · 04/10/2019 18:20

Never thought of H&M thanks! Will check out that other site too. Think double layered or bubble type tops might be the way forward.
