Buttoned Boyfriend Cardigan

phenomenalcat · 02/10/2019 19:45

I've been searching for over a year now for a new boyfriend cardigan but to no avail. H&M always used to have them but even they seemed to have stopped.

You can get lots of similar ones but they have all lost their buttons. I get it's cheaper to produce them without buttons, but hey it's a cardi!

Please can anyone help me find one. If it's from a sustainable retailer all the better.

Colour wise grey is top, then black, navy, and other dark colours.

I'd rather pay a bit more and get better quality too.

Thank you 😊

Last years I got a grey & a navy ‘boyfriend cardigans’ both from the men’s dept at M&S they have pockets & buttons

sanitygirl · 02/10/2019 20:05

I'd look in charity shops, especially the men's section.

Laska2Meryls · 02/10/2019 20:07

Celt and Co.. expensive but really lovely and sustainable..
Or Woolovers are good

Laska2Meryls · 02/10/2019 20:10

Sorry meant Celtic and Co..

Baboutheocelot · 02/10/2019 20:14

I got a black one from monki

phenomenalcat · 02/10/2019 20:16

Thanks for all the replies. Gap actually have a perfect one - I had forgotten about them as they closed the local shop. Now just to see if I can get three different colours past my husband Grin
Celtic and Co are lovely but a bit thick for me - although I've got some of their sheepskin slippers on my Christmas list.
Good call about men's sections, especially charity shops.
Will check out the other suggestions when I get chance.

I got a lovely one in white stuff two years ago. Surely your husband doesn't know what clothes you have?!

Nanasueathome · 03/10/2019 12:16

Boden usually have a selection
Fat face
Seasalt
Brora and Toast for more expensive

babysnowman · 03/10/2019 12:24

@phenomenalcat can you link the one from Gap please?

thedevilinablackdress · 03/10/2019 12:30

Second the PP who suggested M&S menswear. Good quality.

phenomenalcat · 03/10/2019 13:31

It's this one but I realised it was no good as it's not got pockets.

I think I'm actually going to go with M&S too, although I'll wait for a 20% off offer.

I'm then going to save up for this one, which is possibly the most beautiful cardigan ever.

Also I also have a soft spot for this one even without the pockets as it has the coolest buttons ever.

Thanks again everyone.

I have several from Simply Be - Red, Navy, Grey and Green if it helps

morrisseysquif · 03/10/2019 20:07

Three of the links seem to be the same cardigan?

How do you get the 20% offer from M&S?

dudsville · 05/10/2019 12:22

My boyfriend cardigan is a thick one in dark grey with buttons and pockets, but it's from the men's section. I replaced the plastic grey buttons with dark brown leather covered ones.

chasingseagulls · 05/10/2019 12:56

Again, another vote for menswear, especially if you want a boyfriend style anyway. I really rate the M&S mens lambswool, I haven't got a cardigan but I have a few crew neck sweaters which have worn really well.

Also try the men's section of Muji. They come up small anyway, and they use a lot of natural fibers.

I have this one from Woolovers and it has been amazing. washes and washes, stays the same shape and never bobbles like wool does. www.woolovers.com/womens/cardigans/silkcot-classic-long-vee-cardi-grey-4032
also I have always been really impressed with Uniqlo fantastic quality and very reasonable.I have 2 of these for work
