Help me find a bag

I’ve worked hard this month and have saved enough money to buy a new bag but I am really struggling as to which. Budget is under £1k. Ideally I’d like a tote, I already have a Bayswater, Gucci Marmont, Anya Hindmarch clutch, Prada messenger, which was the poorest quality wise. I have been looking at the Neverfull MM (too many fakes) YSL shopper (don’t love its floppyness) and a balenciaga everyday shopper (too influencer-y) do I need to get over myself and choose one of the above? If so which? Or are there any others that I should consider?

www.aspinaloflondon.com/products/london-tote-in-navy-pebble I like this one and it's well within your budget. Aspinal quality is fantastic. I love their bags and I've got other designer bags too.

Ninkaninus · 01/10/2019 21:43

Yes I second Aspinal.

You also can’t go wrong with a tote from Mulberry.

Thank you, this is like the YSL bag the only thing I don’t like is the floppy nature of it. I want something that will hold all my junk and still look decent after a bit of use. I might check out Aspinal and see if they have anything more structured.

The Tom Ford tote is a nice alternative, hard-wearing, relatively stiff, comes in various leathers.

Goyard is a more discreet alternative to the LV models but is coated canvas, so not as stiff but it's kind of its charm.

On the relatively cheaper end, Mansur Gavriel's totes are very stiff but the leather finish is prone to marks.

I'd also have a peek at the naughty pidgins nest if there's anything secondhand taking your fancy. I do believe she allows returns if it's not your thing.

I can’t look at NPN. Every time I do I want to forget about essentials like food and shelter and just buy five more bags.

fairydustandpixies · 02/10/2019 15:14

Those bags are worth more than my car!!!!

botemp · 02/10/2019 15:22

Well if you regret a vintage Chanel a few years down the line at least you'll get your money back and probably turn a profit. The Balenciaga will be depreciating as soon as it leaves the store.

Money aside, I personally would regret getting such an obviously branded bag but IME the simple designer totes aren't really built to last so with frequent use you'll probably wear it out before you get bored with it.

Soola · 02/10/2019 16:14

Balenciaga are not as good as they used to be. Quality has declined somewhat in recent years.
