What to wear for potential job interview at Topps Tiles

I've also applied to Wh Smith's, Pets at Home, The Works, and a few other similar shops mainly for the Christmas temp roles. I haven't worked for 5 years and my last few jobs were all in tech so I'm not sure what appropriate interview attire would be. I feel like a full suit and blazer would be too much.

I was thinking maybe black trousers and smart top, or should it be a shirt? I want them to know I'm serious about getting a job, but don't want to look over the top and out of place. Oh and I live in trainers and I'm guessing I'd need something a bit smarter. My budget is very, very low.

All and any advice very much appreciated.

When I went for an interview at Tesco I remember wearing a knee length pencil skirt, knee high boots, a smart top & my hair in a bun. I got the job.

I think looking smart is important as it shows respect but not too corporate so not a blazer.
Also being keen, enthusiastic & friendly.

Look in Primark for smart cheap shoes & boots, also New Look, Tesco.

And boots are a great idea! I have a lot of foot issues and was worrying about shoes more than anything but I can usually find some smart but comfy boots.

I had someone come in for a retail interview with trainers..... They got the job.
I have always worn smart dress or black pants with a shirt even when going to a bowling alley interview age 17. It makes a good impression. Not too much makeup!!

I don't think I'll wear my trainers haha they're pretty tatty. I don't usually wear make up but think I'll wear a little on. I've just remembered my hair is a kind of candy floss pink colour...do you think that will be ok?

This is all assuming I actually get an interview!
