Would you care to share a photo of your hair?

I have blonde highlights, I'm sick of paying £££ and having my hair dyed orange. I'm sat here really fed up after yet another dodgy dye job even though I begged her please don't make it too warm/orange.

I've tried 3 salons. My one wonderful hairdresser left.

I'm tempted to try an ash blonde home dye because right now it looks terrible.

I do. I use L’Oréal preference 03 Lightest Ash Blonde.

I only do the regrowth normally and probably once or twice a year pull it all the way through to refresh the ends, could probably do with doing that when I do my roots this time. I used to get a full head of highlights but I was never happy with it, this isn’t perfect but it’s only £8 a box!

If it's going orange, use purple toner shampoo weekly?
I have blonde highlighted hair too. Although I hate how expensive it is, I hate a box dye more! Especially when the roots start showing and it's a proper root line.

It's terrible. I can't actually believe I've paid money for it.

I use the purple shampoo but it doesn't make much difference. My hair is really dry too.

Maybe you could try a toner? I know the colour freedom white blonde in Superdrug is really good and then maybe get a lightening spray to put on every so often

Thanks newusername it's not horrendous, and it's better/worse in certain lights, but I wanted cool/ash blonde.

I will look into the product from Superdrug.

My only other option is to try another salon or try a home dye.

Hi, my hair is very similar to yours. I hate warm tones but also dislike too ashy blonde shades. I have highlights at the hairdressers every 3 months and in between use Nice and Easy ultra light summer blonde about every 3 weeks at home - only on the roots. Never pull it through to the ends and don't leave it on too long or I find it goes a strange grey colour. I get complements about my colour and people are surprised it's box colour but it took me a while to get it right. Good luck x

My natural colour is pretty much as dark as blonde can be, very ashy naturally.

I actually think your blonde is nice, but if it’s not what you want, it’ll never do, I know that!

I’m not sure I agree with the toner recommendation, from your picture your hair looks a wee bit dark for a toner to work properly.

I’ve used the L’Oréal preference for about 10+years now, I live in fear of it being discontinued! I use purple shampoo after a couple of weeks, once every week until I do it again, just to keep it nice and cool.
