I tend to wear jeans a lot at this time of year and wanted to do a quick poll of fits people will be wearing this year eg skinny, mum, boot cut, etc.

Bootcut for me, it's the only style I like Grin

tobee · 29/09/2019 23:40

I've been a skinny jeans girl for a long time and wondered about branching out ! Grin

Fitted but straight leg, ankle length are around a lot. Or slightly baggier mom jeans.

DogsandBoysmeanMud · 30/09/2019 07:42

I'm loving my straight leg ankle length instead of skinnies but will they work with ankle boots

feelingverylazytoday · 30/09/2019 11:15

It's jeggings for me, I love them. But I put comfort before style.

Holymolly · 30/09/2019 15:42

Jeggings/skinny fit, always.

Thinkle · 30/09/2019 15:48

Still in skinnies but in massive contrast also love my Uniqlo curved jeans... www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-uniqlo-u-high-rise-wide-leg-curved-jeans-l32-422414COL67INS024032.html?LGWCODE=422414COL67INS024032;136477;6475&utm_source=Google&utm_term=&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrPaT4uT45AIVAuDtCh2FawySEAQYAiABEgLntvD_BwE
I wear them rolled up with white trainers and a T tucked in with some kind of statement jewellery
Or same with a boxy jumper if it’s colder

missyB1 · 30/09/2019 15:48

Straight leg for everyday wear (love my fatface ones). Skinny or jeggings for night out or special day out.

Thinkle · 30/09/2019 15:50

Oh and size down Once or twice in the waste

quirkychick · 30/09/2019 15:53

I wear quite a mixture, slim rather than skinny (I replaced some defunct skinnies last year). Some straight, some flared, some cropped.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/09/2019 16:12

Skinny ankle length

Took me years to switch from bootcut, I'm not switching back

quirkychick · 30/09/2019 16:21

I only switched from skinny when the skinny ones needed replacing. Slim cut is a good swap, as it's not much different.

Floisme · 30/09/2019 16:29

I've got the Uniqlo U curved legs too. They're very long - I had to cut a couple of inches off even though I'm wearing themrolled up - but I'm very pleased with them. The Cos and Whistle Barrel legs look similar (bit more curved?) but spendier.

I'll also wear girlfriend again - have a couple of pairs. And I've kept one pair of skinnies, although I know they do me no favours, to wear with a favourite slouchy jumper. I occasionally get out my old Gap Long n' Leans and try them on but I'm not quite ready to go back to them just yet.

I think it's great that there's so much choice at the moment. It's also highly unusual.

ChickenyChick · 30/09/2019 16:49

Floisme, which girlfriend ones do you like?

soggypizza · 30/09/2019 17:19

I am wearing slim straight and the curved jeans - although only on dry days.

Floisme · 30/09/2019 17:26

Chickeny I've got a pair from Whistles and a pair from M&S Autograph. They're both a couple of years old and I've just checked and I can't see either of them online any more, which sounds a bit ominous but, to be honest, I don't think they're really any different from straight leg.

Floisme · 30/09/2019 17:28

Now I've broken away from skinnies I don't even think they're so great in the rain any more. I don't like the way they stick to your legs when they're wet.

Kenworthington · 30/09/2019 17:31

I’ve just bought some amazing jeans from gap. They’re the high waist cigarette ones. With secret slimming pockets or something. I got the washed black. They’re amazing, I have just bought a second pair

tobee · 30/09/2019 18:55

Ooh I like to see all these replies!Smile

Off on a tangent, I didn't really like the summer look for blokes trousers/jeans that stopped a tiny bit short of the ankle, with bare ankle and shoe. But I'm probably just an old codger!

All the pp who are wearing slim legs- are these really stretchy like you can get really stretchy skinnies? I used to wear the Next lift-n-slim (or whatever's they're called) in slim leg but started finding the rigid waist with two high buttons uncomfortable and recently can only find skinnier with enough stretch to be comfy on my fat belly waist.

FelicityFlutterby · 30/09/2019 19:24

I am a right mixed bag!

I have in my wardrobe:

1 x pair skinnies
1 x pair girlfriend jean
1 x pair flared / bootcut
1 x pair boyfriend

I gave away a pair of jeggings today, as they aren't my favourites and I have enough pairs of jeans, (for me).

Musicforsnorks · 30/09/2019 19:29

I’m not comfy in skinny jeans, or any jeans with zip, button, rigid waist.
But I do get along with jcrew jeggings. They’re visual;y similar to a really high end jean but with a jeggings waist band. (They’re called pull-on drainpipe).
This has the benefit of holding in wobbly bits, thicker material is more like real jeans, not thin like many high street jeggings which show every small dimple through fabric 😆

I’ve been transitioning to skirts lately but did notice that in our northern windy rain this week my tights were NOT remotely as warm or weatherproof as jeans.

I wont do wider legs as they seem to absorb rain and weigh me down.

It’s a conundrum this winter dressing lark.

soggypizza · 30/09/2019 19:33

I have bought a pair of 7 for all Mankind Kimmie - very stretchy and very comfortable. Also bought slim straight ankle jeans from Uniqlo (I think I might love these more) - I got 32in long - so less ankle grazing...I'm not keen on the ankle grazing thing...no for winter anyway!

quirkychick · 01/10/2019 06:26

My slim jeans aren't super stretchy but have some lycra, I tend to go for high % cotton, though. I had some skinny jeans literally disintegrate due to very high lycra content. They don't have high, stiff waists, though, as I'm short waisted and find them uncomfortable too.

If you change from skinnies, you might need to rethink your tops too. Wider jeans need balancing out and you might choose something shorter or more fitted with straighter or wider jeans.
