Accessories for wedding guest outfit

I'm wearing this outfit to a wedding at the weekend but I literally don't have a clue how to accessorise it. I have some black Mary Jane shoes which look good with it (the outfit is black/white spots) but I'm stuck on headwear, bag and a necklace. I'm a size 22, 5ft 4 and barrel shaped and I always feel like I've been in a dressing up box if I try to look elegant. Any advice is gratefully received!

It’s a lovely dress, I’m not keen headwear, is it necessary? I think it’s quite hard to bring colour to black and white so I’d probably stick with a black bag but maybe quilted or perhaps a clutch. Simple necklace too, simple is more elegant in my view.

Thanks very much for responding. I tried to buy it in navy but they'd sold out and it was only when it arrived I realised it's quite difficult to accessorise. Do you think pearls would be too old fashioned? My DH likes me to wear long clunky necklaces but I really feel uncomfortable in them. I don't even wear my wedding or engagement rings unless its for a special occasion, so not used to accessorising at all.

I would stay away from head gear apart from maybe diamond look hair slides, a simply diamond look pendent- black clutch
Just simple and elegant x

I think pearls could be good but I just thought a pewter bag could be good too, could make it slightly funkier? I really do like the dress a lot and think ‘less is more’ with that style.

I'm so pleased the consensus is that it's elegant! It's the first outfit I've ever bought that I've been really happy with and I'd love to actually look nice and feel comfortable at the wedding rather than worrying about whether I look a mess. Thanks so much for your ideas.

Could you wear either a pearl or diamonte hair slide?

Love that dress! I agree, simplicity is key here- a pearl necklace, something sparkly in your hair and a simple clutch will look beautiful

Oh lovely dress. Am I the only one to suggest adding red or pink. Red feels more classic. Personally I world add a red belt under the empire line (draw the eye to the thinnest part) and a red or black bag. If the bag is black, a subtle red hair clip/slide etc. But then I don't follow fashion or what you're supposed to wear, I wear what I think is best to my taste. I often find a belt placed in this way improves shape. Do you have a belt to try in any colour, Even to see if its more flattering then I can find a red one (if you like the red idea)

Personally it seems quite high at the neck so I don't know if it needs a necklace.. Have you tried the pearls with it???
