These DM Chelsea boots...

I just bought these, from their youth range so half the price of adult ones. Love the yellow stitching and thick sole. I was thinking to wear them to toughen up too-smart work dresses as well as for weekends... but when I tried them on this morning my 2yo gleefully shouted WELLIES and I admit he’s right...
What do you think, wise S&Bers? Are they a keeper or will I look like I’m obviously wearing teenage boy school shoes and not in a good way?

I love them. I have Blundstones though so I’m on your side anyway!
(Now I want an egremont russet though, they’re the best apples)

AnyFucker · 28/09/2019 16:40

I prefer them in brown and have considrred buying some. How is the sizing and getting them on/off ?

They do not look like wellies, btw

Soontobe60 · 28/09/2019 16:40

They're fab! Get some DM socks to wear with them and turn up your jeans. Will also look great with thick tights and short skirts or bare legs and long floaty dresses.

AnyFucker · 28/09/2019 16:41

Dm socks ?

Greenglassteacup · 28/09/2019 16:41

I don’t like boots that have an elastic section so I’d have probably just gone for the youth dm lace up boots. If you like them though you should keep them

ThanosSavedMe · 28/09/2019 16:41

They’re not wellies they’re Chelsea boots. You can’t seriously take fashion advice from a 2 yr old!

Herocomplex · 28/09/2019 16:48

Are you asking what DM socks are? They’re kind of double layered. Meant to help with rub.

LilyFromTheValley · 28/09/2019 17:46

My daughter has these in the biggest youth size. If I could squash my foot half a size smaller, I'd definitely wear them. When they looks all worn and weathered they'll look much better.

Flurgle · 28/09/2019 17:49

They are lovely and definitely not wellies. DMs are a classic.

dontgobaconmyheart · 28/09/2019 18:05

I think they do have some welly vibes actually, especially if they are being worn with trousers covering the ankle; I think its the fact the actual shape of the shoe is wide and round, like a welly.

I don't dislike them though and think they could look nice with a dress or with rolled up trousers if you like that sort of look. I should confess that I am not a die hard fan of DM's though -on me I always find them a bit clunky and feel ridiculous in them- though i often wear lace up biker boots that are a bit more streamlined. I'd not get rid on the opinion of your two year old though OP, or me- keep what you like!

CottonSock · 28/09/2019 18:07

I have them in kids size 4. I don't think I could wear with tights as they are wide fit and bulky. I wear with jeans a lot.

OtraCosaMariposa · 28/09/2019 18:08

I have a pair of very similar DM boots in brown and with brown stitching rather than yellow.

They are hands down the best, most comfortable boots I have ever owned. They don't look like wellies AT ALL.

User24689 · 28/09/2019 18:11

I have them in brown and love them!! So comfortable and look good with most things, I get lots of compliments on them. Definitely don't look like wellies.

Cocolapew · 28/09/2019 18:13

They're lovely, but turn your jeans up Grin

thedevilinablackdress · 28/09/2019 19:33

Agree with PP, roll your jeans up. It'll make quite a difference.

dudsville · 28/09/2019 20:16

So, can I wear children's shoes? I just googled "what children's shoe size am I?" And found a guide. What's the difference between adult and children's fit in shoes?

CottonSock · 28/09/2019 20:28

They are the same sizes I think. Kids 4 same as adult 4.

EgremontRusset · 28/09/2019 20:34

Ok, I’ve never turned jeans up in my life but will give it a go! I know skinnies are over but thought I was reasonably 2019 with straight leg ones Grin

I think you are right they’ll look less welly ish without jeans over the top. They do give me big feet with all that sole, but that’s their look, and I’ll feel better in the rain with DMs than my walking boots or something from Hotter...

I had the original chelseas in red and sold them because they looked like clown shoes from above. I tried and failed to convince myself otherwise. I wish I'd bought Floras as the toe is more almond.

FirenzeArno · 30/09/2019 07:27

I think they're lovely. I have 2 pairs of DMs from the youth range - black with painted flowers and then pink glitter. The thing I like best is the kids ones have a zip up the side so are easier to get on/off. No-one ever notices that they're the kids ones!

LaPampa · 30/09/2019 08:04

I have a brown pair which I love and are very comfy but i never wear them with anything covering the tops. Cuff jeans etc. I find them too clunky for cities though - we live rurally so they work.
