12 year old DD (nearly 13), is struggling to decide what to buy for party's. I don't have a clue either!!! Lots of her friends are a lot bigger (busty) and wear lacy halter neck bra tops poking out from boob tube tops etc. DD is teeny tiny long and thin.........normally wears jeans or shorts and hoody (& wellies up the garden mucking the chickens out) Think she is feeling a bit lost and I am no help! What do yours wear? Thinking online for ideas.

I think it should be a slightly enhanced version of her normal look. I don’t have a 12 or 13 year old girl I should hasten to add but I think I’d be ok with shelling out for trendy or cool items assuming they didn’t show too much flesh. So cool jeans, ( high waisted) slightly cropped T shirt, trainers or boots ( lace up ) hair up in a messy bun, hooped earrings. Urban Outfitters tend to have lots of items that I would be happy to purchase. This of course is assuming she is not wanting super glamorous body con looks.

Not sure if you're thinking dressy - sparkles, lace, dresses or kinda cool & casual. My 12 yr old tends to dress quite casually for parties. High waisted skinny jeans, a slogan t- shrit sometimes cropped biker style ankle boots or high tops and now we are headed into cooler weather she will wear it with a leather jacket & a checked shirt around her waist . She did wear a jumpsuit( with pumps) to a wedding last weekend, I love her sense of style she is much more confident in her own style that ai ever was at that age.

My slim, thin and slight dd age 11 wears jumpsuits a lot. They are stylish and suit her figure.

Firstly: does your daughter have her own style, and does she want to ‘fit in’?

DSD is 12, friends are that age or 13/14. There seems to be 2 camps: those who go all out and wear tight neon minidresses, and those who wear black sports leggings with a black cropped top (cami, racerback or even long-sleeved & hooded but still cropped). Both groups straighten their hair or wear double fishtails, put on sequinned false nails. :|

Hollister jumpsuit or jeans and a little top from there

Try urban outfitters. Cool mom jeans and a t-shirt style crop top or holdover T-shirt or something. Think VSCO girl (google it).

She'll love her figure when she's older!

Thanks for replies. Just google vsco girls! So funny! Guess it's just trends like we had as young teens but they have online 'followers'! DD looks gorgeous in skinny jeans and a cropped t-shirt. She loves the mom jean look but they do look slightly ridiculous as she is so lanky! Bring back last year when dungaree shorts would do for anything......🙄 such a learning curve and a strain on the old wallet!
