How to look put together when pregnant

Help! I normally consider myself to be pretty well ‘put together’ but looking through all of the major maternity ranges has frankly made me pretty depressed about dressing with a bump!

Can anyone help me with a few interchangeable pieces that will see me though autumn and winter please?!

I normally live in black, greys and white. E.g mom jeans and a white tee with biker jacket or black skinny’s and oversized grey tee or midi skirt tee and converse or supergars etc etc

No requirement for separate work wardrobe as we are all very casual (creative design agency)

Probably depends on your shape, but I have really enjoyed wearing Seraphine jersey tops with a knot at the front (flattering) and skinny under bump jeans. I've continued to wear my non-maternity jackets undone (currently 31 weeks). Isabella Oliver also has some flattering staple tops too.

Having found the topshop maternity range to be life changing. Loads of flattering jeans, jewel coloured cami tops, silky shirts. Those look fab with a blazer. Then H&M has got some great baggier boyfriend jeans which look great with a white shirt (also from H&M) and Birkenstocks or converse

i bought most of mine from eBay/marketplace and managed with quite a small capsule.

I had two pairs of leggings - one from Lidl, one from H&m. Both basic but fine for exercise
Three pairs of jeans. All second hand. Surprisingly I found the H&m ones as good as the Isabelle Oliver’s

A couple of casual tops from H&m passed down from family. Not amazing quality but fine for dog walks/around the house.

Then basically lived in three black Isabelle and Oliver tops and a couple of striped Jojo tops. Boring but did the job and I could still wear my normal jackets over the top for most of the pregnancy.

Denim dungarees were my favourite thing while pregnant. I think I looked pretty cool in them too 😎Grin.

Mine were from Jojo Maman Bebe.

I wore dungarees and pinafore dresses pretty much throughout. Also got some dresses from Happy Mama for work etc. They're super cheap but made me feel more put together when I needed to be a bit more dressed up. For super affordable smock tops/dresses the boohoo maternity stuff honestly isn't bad at all.

All boohoo/happy mama. Might be a bit casual for what you want but I was always so comfy.

New Look Maternity is really good ‘expensive’ quality - better quality than their normal stuff and fashionable too. I love their leggings / fitted tees / dresses and jumpsuits

PrimeraVez · 27/09/2019 12:37

I lived in Isabella Oliver dresses - I had long sleeved, short sleeved and strappy versions. They are easy to dress up or down (tights and boots, converse, chunky cardigan, blazer whatever) and the quality was really good.

Have you looked at seraphine?

Spudlet · 27/09/2019 19:02

I really liked H&M for maternity wear. I think my favourite outfit was a black jersey knee-length skirt over black tights, black ankle boots (wide fit from New Look for fat preggo feet) and a green satiny t-shirt, with a belt sitting on top of my bump for a bit of definition. I felt genuinely great in that.

Justinkase · 27/09/2019 20:16

Thank you everyone. Dungarees... why hadn't I thought of that?! Genuinely very excited to have just ordered some! And newlook wide fit is a really good shout for boots!

In terms of shape I’m normally an 8/10 and pretty ‘straight’ however my normally non existent boobs seem to be increasing at the speed of light so I’m not sure what shape I’m going to end up!

I usually wear looser fit boxy T-shirt’s however all the maternity ones I have seen tend to be tight fit with ruched sides.. considering maybe buying some cheap men’s instead to see me through and rolling the sleeves over.. or would that look odd?

Dungarees are fab when you're pregnant as they don't fall down! I found all my maternity jeans would need to be frequently hoiked up, but dungarees were just bliss! The only small issue was going to the loo, especially in winter as you have to strip off. Still, totally worth it to avoid the hoiking and cos they look nice too.

Sunshinegirl82 · 27/09/2019 20:52

Is this the sort of look you'd normally go for?

@Sunshinegirl82 both of those are perfect! Thank you!

Oh good! Topshop looks like it might be your best bet for your style, they had quite a few of those looser t-shirts.

You can filter to maternity if you go to clothing and then shop by fit and then maternity. Happy shopping!

Sunshinegirl82 · 27/09/2019 22:16

Last one(!) I don't know if you're into jumpsuits but this looks like it would be really comfy!
