So I have a lovele medium coverage foundation from lancome that is such a great colour match. I've been wearing it bare but it gets very shiny paticually on my nose. So I have got s setting powder from rimmel but its making me look like a ghost :( i've got olive skin and was wondering if anyone can recommend something less ghostly?

Laura Mercier translucent hands down THE BEST!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 26/09/2019 07:18

Does translucent mean no colour or very pale?

Laura mercier translucent is absolute best. It doesn't alter the colour of the foundation and is so finely milled it doesn't look cakey. You also need such a tiny amount so it lasts a long time so it worth the £30.

Depending on your skin tone it comes in translucent and medium deep.

Apolloanddaphne · 26/09/2019 07:42

I use the Laura Mercier translucent too and find it excellent. I have not got olive skin though.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 26/09/2019 07:48

The Laura mercier powder and the hourglass powder are both nice. I've had both in travel sizes and they lasted ages.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 26/09/2019 08:27

thanks everyone is this a brand that is sold in store so I could try and see which shade I need?

It's sold in John Lewis

Deathraystare · 26/09/2019 13:20

Laura Mercier? Sold in most Department Stores I believe but not all Boots stores.

SecondTimeCharm · 26/09/2019 13:22

laura mercier is brilliant but if you also want a little colour/glow i highly recommend hourglass ambient light powders too, i have one of their palettes and use it every single day. very fine, no huge chunks of glitter, gorgeous sheeny skin

Louise0701 · 26/09/2019 13:23

RMCA is fab!

chesterfuckingdraws · 26/09/2019 13:43

@LivingDeadGirlUK SpaceNK stock Laura Mercier and hourglass also mentioned.

AlwaysTryingToHelp · 26/09/2019 15:19

Sorry to jump on your thread @LivingDeadGirlUK!!

I have been think about getting the Laura Mercier powder for a while and I am now defiantly going to buy it this weekend! What does everyone use to apply ? Thank you Smile

chesterfuckingdraws · 26/09/2019 17:09

@AlwaysTryingToHelp I use it to set my whole face so tip some into the lid and apply with a big fluffy brush. My current favourite is a Superdrug B cosmetics one.

babooshkamybush · 26/09/2019 22:42

Another one for laura mercier...it's really worth the money...and gram for £ actually not bad value. You get a lot in a full size tub... I've been using a mini I got in a beauty box for 3 months which is about 3g and I've Got loads left despite using it every day you really only need the tiniest amount - you don't need the puff you get with it though a brush is much better.

I should be on commission...Hmm

babooshkamybush · 26/09/2019 22:44

On the brush btw I use a smaller highlighter type size brush to set under my eyes then a bigger face brush.

Dramaofallama · 27/09/2019 06:03

Another vote for Laura mercier. It really works wonders and is worth the price tag. It helps alot with my oily skin, plus the powder doesn't set in creases or fine lines.
I use a beauty blender to dab it on my chin, forehead and under my eyes, leave it for a few seconds/minutes to set then blend it out.

FrangipaniBlue · 27/09/2019 23:30

I use a fluffy puff to dab it all over my face, it looks like I've put talc on but I leave it a wee while then swipe the excess away with a fluffy brush Grin

nitgel · 27/09/2019 23:33

No7 loose powder is great few shades

Lunaballoon · 28/09/2019 07:25

Yet another recommendation for LM. I use this one which comes with a pad to dab over any shiny bits.
