Purple shampoo recommendations

MushroomTree · 25/09/2019 19:59

I had my hair coloured platinum this afternoon and the stylist recommended using a purple/silver shampoo and conditioner to stop it going brassy.

Has anyone got any recommendations?

The salon told me they'd heard bad things about Provoke and I have to say I've used it before and certainly none of the promised benefits. They said they'd heard good things about Milkshake?

I used to use Fanola when I had white blonde hair, that was really good. I would use it a couple of times a week as a normal shampoo, but then once a week I would put it on dry hair for about 15 minutes before washing it off.

I used the L'Oréal purple shampoo and it was absolutely rubbish. But I think it depends on your hair and what I find with shampoos is that different ones for different hair types.
I used the Pantene conditioner in a good tube for coloured hair and that was pretty good.

Another recommendation for Bleach London

Frouby · 25/09/2019 20:05

I love Joico, it's miles better than any other. I do have a different Italian one I am using atm which is equally as good but I don't think it's widely available.

Fenola is brilliant. I use it once every couple of weeks or so (just use L’Oréal in between) to stop hair looking too purple/grey! I get compliments on my hair colour a lot, colour lasts months with the purple shampoo.

Bought two big bottles on amazon for about £18 I think.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 25/09/2019 20:07

I second Joico, you can buy a massive bottle at TK Maxx

candlefloozy · 25/09/2019 20:14

I'm just using the dove one. It's really nice

littlevoicer · 25/09/2019 20:20

Bleach London.

I've tried LOADS of brands. Nothing comes close.

sandalsinthebin · 25/09/2019 21:01

Fudge is brilliant. Massive bottle lasts forever

Knowivedonewrong · 25/09/2019 22:14

Phil Smith. You can get it in Sainsburys.

cantpooinpeace · 25/09/2019 22:23

Bleach London from Boots - works brilliantly!

soupmaker · 25/09/2019 22:23

I use Lush's Daddy-O. Worth braving the teenagers and sickly sweet aroma in store. Keeps my grey/white hair bright. I use it every time I wash my hair.

Fstar · 25/09/2019 22:35

John frieda have shampoo and conditioner, really good and normally 3 for 2

Pinkflipflop85 · 25/09/2019 23:18

Bleach london or Joico.

RacheyCat · 26/09/2019 00:56

I'm using Fanola at the moment, although I was using Shimmerlights before. I've also bought a bottle of Schwarzkopf colour wash shampoo in blue. I mix it with conditioner and then put it on dry hair before I wash it with the Fanola, and it gives a cool silvery blue tone to my very light blonde hair. Taking some trial and error, but I'm getting close to a similar tone that I came out of the salon with now.

TheCraicDealer · 26/09/2019 01:02

Bleach London. Tried loads over the years but this is the best by far, and you can easily get it in Boots and Sainsburys. Just dont use it every single wash or it will make your hair turn blueish if you're light blonde- DFriend had to stage an intervention with me at one point as i stopped seeing it!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 26/09/2019 06:12

Osmo is the strongest tone I've tried, Bleach London in iridescent is the most flattering tone on me as its pinkier.

MushroomTree · 26/09/2019 11:52

Thanks everyone. I think I'll give Bleach London a go.
