Help - work wear

vilamoura2003 · 24/09/2019 16:24

Looking for suggestions and inspirations please 😇

Have new job offer which will involve needing a new work wardrobe - where I am currently is quite casual, but where I am going definitely needs to be a bit smarter. I am currently sitting between a size 14 - 16 and am struggling to dress flatteringly with a fuller figure (I am working on this with diet and exercise 👍).

Any suggestions and links to nice workwear for the more voluptuous lady very much appreciated 😇

Studio 8 and Navabi have great cuts and styles for fuller figured ladies.

Um, you're not plus size. You don't need a specialist shop.

What's your normal style? Dresses? Trousers? Price range?

vilamoura2003 · 26/09/2019 21:41

No don't want a specialist shop - just some suggestions for some nice work wear. Haven't worked in a more corporate environment for quite a few years. Open to any suggestions 😇

Hobbs, Phase Eight, M&S Autograph, John Lewis.

I always think it's easier to find smarter clothes to flatter a fuller figure than casual clothes.

Also Uniglo and Asos

Most workplaces are more casual than they used to be. But mine is one of the few that expect men in suits and ties.

I looked everywhere for a suit for a work event eventually found one in Boden the ponte is stretchy so comfortable but also fairly thick.
I've since bought some more Boden off of eBay.

Got my eye on this not sure if it's too bright for my work though www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/hampshire-7-8-trousers-saffron/sty-t0010-dyl?cat=C1_S2_G175

@Sickoffamilydrama that is gorgeous, wish I had the figure and the confidence to wear that suit 💕

I see so many lovely clothes, and think I would have loads of style if I was a size 10 - 12, but I look at the lovely clothes and think it probably wouldn't look so lovely in a size 16 🙄

OP don't be so harsh on yourself.

I've been a 14/16 most of my adult life. I'm tall and lucky I don't carry much weight on my legs and still have an hourglass figure but since child no.3 I'm definitely more of a 16 and have a pouch.

But I look good in their suits the stretch is the kind that doesn't highlight the bad parts.

partysong · 27/09/2019 21:35

Maybe try a personal shopper at somewhere like John Lewis? You're only a size 16, I'm sure you look lovely.

I'm a size 20 and can look pretty fabulous when I want to so please don't assume you can't
