What products do you use for oily/combination skin?

I have oily/combination skin. I don’t really have a skincare routine. I wash my face, use cetaphil moisturiser that’s it. The past few weeks it’s been particularly bad (don’t know why) which makes me so self conscious. I feel I should be looking after my skin more now - approaching 29 & I’ve been told to start young!

Anyone recommend any products to help me? Dermatologist says i should always use oil free products as they would help my skin.

Thanks!

I’m currently enjoying using Facetheory which has FB40 code 40% off your first order.

I have combination skin and my skin feels and looks nice using their products

I will have to take a look at face theory, looked at it a few months back but not properly.

I would in the first instance spend some time in Caroline Hirons' website and look at the cheat sheets for acne. I had really oily skin but followed the advice here and it's completely changed my skin. I would stop using foaming face wash, double cleanse using a flannel and introduce an acid toner for after cleansing if you don't use one already. Salicylic acid is best for oily skin as it is oil soluble so penetrates the oil on the skin. You said the dermatologist advised oil free products and while I would avoid oil in foundation I have found using an oil in my skincare paradoxically helped balance the oil in my skin. I double cleanse each night and my first cleanse is with an oil cleanser (Una Brennan but c facial oil).
I got a sheet of A4 paper one day and spent hours on the Caroline Hirons website educating myself and I think my skin is now the best it's been in my life.
Product wise I think you need to try lots of different products before you find the one that suits you. But that can be expensive!
I use the oil cleanser I mentioned above as a first cleanse. Then use the Simple purifying cleansing lotion as my second cleanse. I then use LaRoche Posay Efaclar lotion as a toner which contains salicylic acid. I use the ordinary niacinamide and zinc on my t zine and the vit C on the rest of my face then finish with Simple anti blemish moisturiser.

I use Khiel’s. If you go to one of their shops or concession stands, they’ll do a skin test for you and then advise the best skin routine for you. It’s quite expensive but it’s been a godsend for me.
