I have been watching and reading blog posts on this for what seems like ages and now it’s available in the UK I really want to sign up. The only thing stopping me is I feel I wasted so much money in glossy boxes and birch boxes and didn’t even use the stuff. It also works out a bit more expensive in the UK with postage etc.

Has anyone else tried it and would you recommend?

I’m like you OP. Watching!

If you feel like you've wasted money on subscription boxes before don't bother with a new one.
I don't actually know how much this one is but, for me, problem with the unknown is just that, the unknown. I guess its a thrill to get a surprise but, again, this is personal, something is always not right, say, if it's makeup, perfume or skincare, it's not the right colour, or not the right fragrance or in case of skincare too much fragrance.
So, instead of spending Β£10-30 (glossy or birch boxes) on a bunch of deluxe size samples and maybe one full size I'd rather buy just one lipstick but in the right shade.

ReeReeR · 21/09/2019 22:20

I think these work out at about Β£40-50 a box. There’s an offer on the autumn box for 50% off the box plus shipping it works out less than Β£34. I wouldn’t subscribe to glossy etc now BUT I am tempted by this as all the items are full size items and you get to choose four or five of them (think you get about 8 in total) so it’s likely you’d get a few things you’d use as you’d have chosen them. Also because if the value it works out that you’ve got your money’s worth if you get even 3 products you like...

I clearly sound like I’m going to go for it!

Also thought a yearly subscription (about Β£200) might be a better gift to myself than getting one of the expensive beauty advent calendars... πŸ€”

So... I bought it. I used the code for the half price autumn box - COSY50 - and it worked out about Β£33.60 and then was easily persuaded to do an annual subscription on top of that for about Β£220 πŸ˜¬πŸ™ˆ An advantage of doing the annual subscription is you get more choices than if you pay by the month but I got to use that advantage in the half price box too πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

This is one of those threads where when I read it initially I raised an eyebrow and thought you were going to buy it iregardless!

Since you've been doing your research I expect you've read which beauty box uk reviews of previous boxes, she seems smitten with it

ReeReeR · 22/09/2019 17:48

Yes maybe I was already about 90% when I posted

I looked up previous boxes on the website and some YouTube videos. They look like they’re worth the money, especially as you choose some items, and it’s nice getting a package of goodies in the post

As this ships from the US, doesn't it mean it could be subject to random custom charges?

RunsForGummyBears · 22/09/2019 19:17

I subscribed to FFF for about a year and a half (full disclosure - had it delivered to an US address so no experience of the possible custom charges). The first couple of boxes were great, but then the quality started to decline and there were a ton of similar items in the boxes. I was adding most of the items to my gift cupboard. Check out the My Subscription Addiction reviews - my last box was over a year ago and I have to say I don't think I've missed out. From what I understand the boxes are even worse. There is also an added issue where non-US address don't get some of the items.

If you could guarantee no charges I would say give it a shot (if you have a discount code!), but if there are custom charges I would give it a hard pass.

ReeReeR · 22/09/2019 19:47

Well it didn’t occur to me I’d get charged for customs so I have signed up now and will have to see! Hopefully I don’t regret signing up as I have paid for five boxes!

The past couple of boxes seem pretty decent quality but I accept they may have been better before.

I signed up for this in the summer and have loved both boxes I've received so far. The skincare/hair items have made their way into regular rotation and I've bought more of some of the body lotions I've had. It is expensive but I've found its a good way for me to try new things and I didn't get along half as well with either Glossybox or Birchbox! I don't know if this is allowed but I have a referral code to give money off for you and me i you're interested. I don't know how it would work with the existing offer they have on, though.

MrToadHasSwallowedHisNoustache · 27/09/2019 11:30

Sorry, I obviously didn't notice your last message before I steamed in, OP! Enjoy the boxes, I highly recommend them Smile

ReeRi · 27/09/2019 11:37

Thanks MrsToad Referral code would have been good! I think I will prefer FFF to glossy or birchbox, which seem to be mostly samples and I didn’t use half the stuff. I’m excited about the yoga mat this month!
