I want a long sleeved 'winter' daytime dress for various functions over the winter months. Would wear with opaques and brogues/loafers/wedge shoes depending on event. I know it's not massively exciting but you lot are always pretty honest so would like some thoughts. Smile

I like it, versatile and very pretty.

RavenLG · 20/09/2019 14:33

I don't particularly like the belt but I'm a sucker for anything embroidered.

sweetiepie1979 · 20/09/2019 14:38

Love it !

Expressedways · 20/09/2019 14:41

I want to love it as the embroidery is so pretty but I think the belt is awful.

Bluntness100 · 20/09/2019 14:42

Actually that's nice...

LemonBreeland · 20/09/2019 14:44

I'm not a belt fan either, but agree with others that it's a pretty versatile smart dress.

gasandair · 20/09/2019 14:44

That would look terrible on me, which is probably clouding my judgement. It's just so....heavy....with the high neckline and the wrapover and that dense embroidery. It reminds me vaguely of the velvet Laura Ashley things my mum used to put me in at Christmas time.

If you're tall and willowy and have an edgy haircut then I'm sure you can pull it off beautifully.

BenWillbondsPants · 20/09/2019 14:52

I'm not a massive fan of the belt either, was thinking I could change it for a much thinner one?

I am neither tall nor willowy @postergasandair and at the moment looking the shittest I have ever looked. Lost my hair to chemo - though it's starting to grow back so I'll likely have a very short pixie by the time I go to any of these events. I have also recently had a bilateral mastectomy so I'm experimenting with different necklines and think this one would work with my prosthetic boobs.

To be honest, everything about my appearance has changed so much over the last few months that I'm a bit lost as to what suits me anymore, so I'm kind of winging it at bit!

I like it though it wouldn't suit me. Have you also checked out Joe Brown's? They do some good long sleeved dresses though the necklines might not all work for you. Flowers and best of luck rebuilding your look.

BenWillbondsPants · 20/09/2019 15:02

@Butterymuffin I have looked at Joe Browns, thank you, some nice dresses but too much pattern for me. I like a wee bit of pattern but not too much ifkwim? I like the term 'rebuilding your look', that's what it feels like. Smile

I love embroidery but this puts me mind of an Irish dancing dress a bit. It looks like something for a younger child to me. Pretty but not stylish imo.

Squiz81 · 20/09/2019 15:53

I wouldn't pay that much for a polyester dress.

SteelRiver · 20/09/2019 16:00

After the comments I was expecting a hideous dress, but I think it's really pretty! It would be ideal for the colder weather and, as you say, you could change the belt if you really dislike the one it comes with. Why not order and give it a try. You can always send it back.

Best wishes for your ongoing recovery. X

NiteFlights · 20/09/2019 16:04

I like it and I like the way you plan to style it. I even think the belt is okay although it would be handy to be able to wear it either with or without. It seems ideal for what you need it for as well.

BenWillbondsPants · 20/09/2019 20:16

Well I've ordered it. Will report back what it's like. Smile

I really like that op. I'm short and curvy and would wear that too.
All the best with your recovery.
