Help a style challenged 30 something with shoes

I'm not a regular style & beauty poster. I hope you can help...

I am in a quandary about shoes. For most years gone by my standard autumn / winter wear is knee high boots. I understand these are now a no go. It's ridiculous, but there you have it.

What am I meant to wear instead? Ankle boots do not look right on me with dresses. With trousers I cannot think of any option that will not leave me with cold feet on cold days. I do a lot of walking and early morning bus journeys which I know doesn't exactly tally up with the fashion forward lifestyle. I also cant wear trainers or anything casual for work so that throws in an additional spanner.

Two additional constraints - due to knee problems I dont wear heels and due to family life my shoe budget is pretty limited. I could find £100-£150 for something perfect. In the good old days I would spend about that every other year on a decent pair of boots but then I would literally wear them every day of autumn / winter.

Am I asking the impossible? Please help.

If knee boots suit you and you feel comfortable in them then just keep wearing them! They are also on the way back in now.

Knee high boots are now back in fashion. I think ( like me) you just scooted past the bit when they weren't! If you love them and they suit you, wear them. And be ahead of the trends!

Yes I read in this weeks Grazia that knee boots are in fashion so you're ok!

Seems to be 70s style block heeled or riding boots style.

Wear whatever you are comfy in, ya never know you may start a new fashion
