Ideas for everyday hairstyles for long hair, please!

My hair is long (bra-strap length), naturally straight, all one length apart from a fringe, and whilst a lot of people comment on how thick it is it’s actually quite thin but I have a lot of it.

Whilst I like having it long, I find myself screwing it up on top of my head everyday and wondered if anyone had any ideas as to some nice, flattering styles I might be able to do from day to day? Sometimes I’m torn between that soft, twisted, boho look and a strong quiff kind of look (although that might be hideously dated now).

If it’s of any relevance, I’m a youngish-looking 35.

Thanks in advance. x

Well, first thought is a 60s inspired pony tail. Backcomb crown gently, smooth over top layer gently, put in a low-mid pony and tease the crown area out to the required level of puffiness.

Pony that is fed through the middle of the hair so the sides of the hair roll in on themselves.

Bubble pony, which is a ponytail and two or three bands places a few inches apart down the rest of the length. Gently puff out the sections between the bands all the way round to a ball/bubble shape.

Hairbands are very popular and there's loads to choose from. Again, as you have a fringe, I'd give it a nod to the 60s side of things as opposed to the 80s side of things Smile If you have hair straighteners, you can add the odd wave or curl - no need to do the whole head of hair, just random bits to give a bit of texture. Look at online tutorials to show you how to create waves with a straightener if you've not done it before. The waves straighteners give are more trendy and angled/kinky than the barrel curlers hot tongs big ringlets.

Big hair slides are also very trendy. Pin back either one or both sides with a big hair clip.

Hope this helps!

I blowdry my hair 90% - turn upside down and plate from the back, just a normal plate. Leave overnight and take out for boohoo wave , i then have down or in a messy pony. Just gives some texture to my very straight hair Smile

There are loads on YouTube but even the supposedly easy ones need more time and effort than I’m currently willing to invest. Worth a look though! Mine is bra length, very thick, wavy, layered, fringe. At the moment it’s mostly in plaits or all tied back in a messy bun, I’m on maternity leave and my baby is always trying to eat it.

Half up half down is so easy, my hair is very thick and long so its nice to keep hair off of your face but still wear it down!

Watching with interest. Mine's half way down my back and looks nice when I've just washed it, but who can be arsed doing that every day?! I'm stuck in a claw-clip/saggy ponytail rut. I long to be able to do a perfect chignon or french pleat, but I'm ham fisted to put it mildly, and my hair is so slippery and soft
